Is It Me, or Is it SoCal?

Seems that all of all the dealers I have contacted in SoCal, the best price for buying an '08 328i is $1300 over invoice + tax/license.

Yet in NorCal, on my 2nd try I can get $1000 over invoice.

I've given a shot at politely emailing all of the suggested dealers from this forum too, only to get:
- good quote/then them telling me it was a 'typo, my bad'
- best they can do is $1400 over invoice
- 2 paragraph rant from a CA telling me how he did not want to play in my pricing games and that his experience was worth much more than a low price (wtf, seriously?)

Any suggestions from recent socal bmw buyers?
I'm ready to buy this week, just want a fair price if everyone in the area can get one too!

If you are willing to buy from a dealer 150 miles North of LA I can refer you to a dealer that will sell for $500 over invoice (and no MACO so that saves $300-400 more relative to other dealers' over invoice prices).

I can help you find a good deal on your car, and for the suggested dealers on this forum I was only able to get 1300 over invoice. Forget it, they will not hook you up, you can find a better deal, plain and simple. No such thing as "experience for pricing" either because when they sell you a car, they sell you the car and all they do is input your information, skills for their data entry? I don't think so....

Try Crevier BMW... I got mine for $1k over invoice. They claim to have the largest inventory on the West Coast. I also used an auto buying service and they took a share too, I'm sure, but I still only paid $1k over invoice and it was Crevier BMW.

Also, if you deal only with an internet sales manager, you're usually going to get a much better deal. Don't bother with the commission hungry people on the floor. They're nice and all, but usually a fleet sales manager or internet sales manager are the people who are going to make the most fair deal. Just my .02.

multiple security deposits, brings down the money factor number in the lease and in the end you save ~6% and get all your MSD money back at the end of the lease

Same here... and I put either $5k or $6k down but my payment is only about $555/mo. 3/yr. I'm going to purchase it in about 2 years also. Just makes it easier for me to live with on a monthly basis.

Yeah I submitted an offer of $500 over invoice (read: it's an offer) and the dim wit at a HIGHLY RATED Boston North Shore area dealer told me that he's not interested in doing business at a few dollars above invoice...

whats up w/ these people - can't professionals stay professional?

Glad I was able to help. I've recommended Ali Kahn @ Santa Maria BMW to quite a few people after I got my E90 335i from him.
