Limited slip differential. If one rear wheel starts to spin, a 3-series (non M) will just lose usable power because all the engine torque will go towards that spinning wheel. Either that or the electronic nannies will kick in and kill engine power/apply brakes. A car with an LSD will transfer some of that torque from the spinning wheel to the non-spinning wheel.
Useful in corners.

"The increased power and torque naturally place higher loads on the engine componentry, so a number of items, including the cooling system of the 335is, have been upgraded accordingly. An additional radiator has been added behind the left-side front air intake, along with a more powerful electric cooling fan. An oil cooler is fitted opposite the second radiator, on the right side. The front fascia of each model has been shaped with large openings to allow improved air flow to the coolers, and special emphasis was placed on the 335is Coupe’s higher probability of being used for spirited driving. As a result, the 335is Coupe has traded the Convertible’s foglights for the largest possible air openings, which help result in a substantial increase in effective cooling capacity over the original BMW 335i Coupe. These measures were taken specifically to ensure that the 335is will provide constant, reliable power under even the harshest driving circumstances. Engine mounts have also been replaced with stiffer units to help minimize deflection under very high G-loads." |

Assuming that it is the same transmission that has been available in other markets in the 335i for some time, it is indeed the same one that is used in the M3 as well.

When I placed my Order in Saturday... The six or seven colors that are available for the M-sport option on the regular cars. Lemans Blue ( My choice, so I did not pay much attention to the others) White Grey Sapphire Black Crimson Red (not a M-sport color, but DEFINITELY on the list) Silver Blue water ( I do not remember seeing this in the dealer's order screen) |

There has been some rumor of the F3x timeline being moved up, which would effect these dates, but there is no hard evidence. |

What about the N55? In another video on FAST LANE, it said the 335i would get the N55 (only a single turbo)

I have been thinking about the iS a bit since I am crushing the miles on my current 335i. Upgrading from an pre-LCI e92 to a 335iS would kind of be like going from an Evo 8 to 9. Not big differences, but maybe some subtle ones that change the car from good to great.

Only time will tell which engine is actually the better performer.
