Purchased new '10 E92 335i, came with Run Flats, normal?

I purchased a new '10 335i some months back, and just realized that the tires are run flats... (i know plz dont flame for my idiocy)

Question is, when buying a new BMW, is it normal protocol for new cars to leave the dealership with run flats? Did i just get jipped? Can I come back and have them replace the tires?

Also, since I have to replace the tires, what are some decent tires to purchase? recommendations?

Apologies for newbie questions..

Yep. They come from the factory with run flats.

The car comes with RFTs (Run flat tires) standard. You'd have to change them out yourself, on your own dime, check out the wheels and tires section for more

yeah i realized. do most 335i owners replace their run flats? is it that bad to keep using run flats? i find my driving experience a bit rough (its expected as its a RFT, but i feel its a bit too much)

Most don't but on here you will see a lot of it. If you do (replace them that is) Tischer (www.getbmwparts.com) sells the 5series spare/jack kit which works well with our E9x's, it's a few hundred but a lot better than being stranded

yeah they make the ride a bit rough. just change them out when they get worn/devolop a bubble

RFT's suck. I switched mine to Falken 452's and never looked back.

Their harsh ride and diminished road-holding capabilities when compared to regular high performance rubber

Not to mention their spotty availability...can be problematic on longer trips through less populated areas

Yea that too LOL, you can pretty much improve on all aspects of RFTs other than driving on a flat tire...which I mean how often do you do anyway?

You are probably correct in the etymology of the word in this context. In the commonwealth however,(not Virginia, but Australia, NZ etc) the term gyp refers to pain - as in "my elbow is giving me gyp (or gip)"
