Then again, I just got a quote from a premium independant thinking they would be signifcantly cheaper and I was shocked:

Plugs...$135+150 for labor = $285
Front pads, rotors, sensors...$342, $134, and $25 respectively plus $216 for labor = $717
Rear pads, rotors, sensors...$255, $108, and $27 respectively plus $216 for labor = $390

Then they add in another $25 in fees for waste and shop fees? Im starting to think the stealer isnt that far off?

I would also read your CPO contract carefully. I just read the BMW Gold contract and it clearly defines the dealership as the place where your maintenance and repairs should be done and if anything is done elsewhere that causes a problem it is not their responsibility to repair. That's very broad language and Im sure you can argue DIYer or reputable independant maintenance but it will be up to you to keep good records.
Man that is expensive. Changing your own pads/rotors is simple...any 15 yr old with some wrenches could do it. Not to mention the mark up on the parts.

Was wanting an opinion on which extended warranty I should get on my vehicle.

2008 BMW 328i Coupe
Roughly 37,000 miles.
I drive roughly 12,000-15,000 miles a year.

Which extended warranty plans would you guys/gals recommend?

Thanks!

What's your in service date? Do you have Nav and want to protect most electronics? Too many unknowns to recommend a plan.

What mattered most to me after protecting the big items like turbos and xdrive is allowing for at least a few months of transferable coverage for the next owner as a selling point so I went w a 7/70 Gold.

Oops sorry. I guess my post was kind of vague. I'm not sure what my in service date is? I know my factory warranty ends December 31, 2011.

I do not have Navi or IDrive or anything of that sort. No turbos or xdrive.

Let me know if I'm missing anything else. Thanks!

In service date is 4 years prior so 12-31-07. If you dont care about Idrive you'll save alot going from platinum to gold.

The decision thereafter hinges on expected mileage where let's safely say 15k is your annual number (1,250 monthly).

Year end this year you'll be just over 40k...2012 at 55k, 2013 at 70k, 2014 at 85k, etc. I believe this highest plan is 7yr/100k so pick your spot where you think you will fall.

Anyone from So Cal get a quote under 3900 for Platinum for 84/100k. I called around and that was lowest, 4500 was the highest (Irvine BMW).

Thats around $800 off MSRP. Who was your salesmen? If I keep my car I'm extending my warranty and you appear to have the deepest discount I have seen.

I was just offered the following from a couple of different dealers:

Gold 6 year / 100k = $2390

Maintenance = $1695

I have a 2008 335i. This is a class "b" vehicle.

I basically emailed a few dealers (finance departments) telling them I was emailing a bunch of dealers and would pick the lowest price. I think being up front was good that way they realize either they give a good price and have a chance at a sale with no effort or they give a high price and have no chance. I had one guy try to quote me msrp which I found ridiculous.

What do you all think? So far from what I see this is a good price based on today's rates? Anyone able to do better? I think this is around $900 off msrp for the warranty.

The numbers being the exact same from a couple of different dealers leads me to believe that this is pretty close to bottom line for them, or it's just a crazy coincidence.

Does anybody know if ANY dealer can offer the warranty? For example, if I live in California, can I purchase the extended warranty from a dealer in Virginia?

five3three, your price is the best i've seen, which is why I'm asking. Thanks!

The answer is yes. I actually bought mine from a dealer in Maryland and I live in Virginia. Where you live does not matter. The warranty is a nationwide one valid at any BMW dealer as it will be tied to your VIN number.

A couple of weeks after setting up my warranty and receiving the paperwork for the deal, I got the official packet in the mail from BMWNA about the warranty.

And many dealers will gladly do the paperwork over fax/email so being able to come in is not an issue.

I just bought an 09 with 51k so the factory warranty is expired and no dealership wanted to grant me an extended one...except for one finance mangaer who was willing to give me a 3yr/3,600 for 3,200$!

Thanks

Just a heads up folks, for those of us living in California, only a CA dealer can sell us an extended warranty. I spoke with a dealer in Washington DC (thanks to five3three) and he confirmed that he could NOT sell me an extended warranty because BMWNA only allows CA dealers to sell to CA customers.

I wonder if that is just a california thing because plenty of people have bought from out of state dealers.

I think it is, the individual you referred me to specifically stated that it was policy for BMWNA regarding CA.

Then your in service date must have been December 31, 2007... which would make it the 4 year anniversary as your factory warranty starts on your inservice date.. 4yr/50k.
