Eh...

Thought I'd done okay, but after looking thru this thread, it looks like I did so/so.

325i
Sparkling Graphite
Premium pkg
Comfort access
Xenon
Satellite radio
Premum Sound system

$38,065 MSRP
$36,080 sell
36 month, 12k miles/year

$1070 drive off (first month/taxes/tages/etc)
$0 cap cost

$560/month

Looks like an average deal, looking thru the list...

I ordered my car 12/28. It is still "In Transit"- taking forever (but well worth it)..coming from South Africa on the SAPPHIRE ACE (cant track this ship anywhere).

This is what I ordered:

2006 325i:
Black Sapphire Metallic
Terra leather
Aluminum Trim
Steptronic
Premium Package
Xenons
Navigation
Heated Seats
Park Distance

I took a 2 year lease (cuz was less than 3 year)
Taxes, bank fee, and security deposit up front.

My monthly payment: $435

I think this is a CRAZY deal and i got very lucky.

That does sound like a crazy deal. How much was the taxes, bank fee and security deposit? Also, what was the price you ended up paying (obviously it wasn't MSRP)?

Ohh. That makes more sense. You paid a whole bunch up front and only got 10k miles per year on 2yr lease. I have a 3yr lease, 15k per year, 5k up front, $465 per month. Your deal is pretty normal.

Oh, and you still negotiate the price of the car even on a lease. The lower the price you negotiate, the lower the payments on the lease.

i didnt pay any down payment
it was like 1200 for tax 800 for bank fee and 500 is refundable security deposit
i dont need more than 10k miles/year so i guess the residual value of the car is high so they gave me good deal

Ok, so I look at SDorn's order and I feel a bit better about my deal. But, everyone on here seems to have gotten a better deal than me. I got:

325i Alpine White (30,900)
Auto Tranny (1275)
Power Seats (995)
Cold Weather (1000)
Park Distance (350)
Xenon Lights (800)
Logic7 Sound (1200)
Sport Package (1600)

Total MSRP = $38120 + Destination Fee of $695 = 38815.

The final negotiated price is $38,000.

Total due at signing = $3000 including:

$1500 cap. reduction
$600 refundable deposit
$600 advance payment
$300 taxes and fees

Monthly payment = $600 ($371 depreciation, $178 rent, $50 tax)

Other info I can pull off my signed contract:

2.9% interest rate
62% residual
36 month lease
15,000 miles per year

There is a bank fee of $825.

If I am really being taken here, please tell me. I'll call the dealer right now and tell them to keep the $1000 deposit and keep the car. I am not about to be taken, just not my style. Now, when I ran these numbers before I got around a $500 payment. But, changing from 12k miles to 15k miles raised the lease payment. Then taxes were added on to get to the $600. I am just seeing all these guys on here get 330s with more options for this price!

Now, if $540 or $550 is the so-so price, who cares. I make that difference in an hour's work. But, I still don't like the feeling that some new guy (who's already quite and gone since my purchase) took me for a ride.

I hope I get several opinions on this.

Aaron

Deal sounds WAY too high. I think you can do much better.
And don't let them keep your deposit...get your money back and do some homework.
Let me repeat....get your deposit back, just don't give it up.

Sucks, it's to deliver on April 13th. Just got done waiting! I spoke to another guy and we came to the conclusion if I get the monthly payments down to $550 with them, it's a fair deal.

Does anyone think I should shoot for a better price than that, or is that good enough?

Look, so many people leasing makes this critical error, myself included until I started educating myself more about leaing. Do go back to them and say I need a $550 monthly rate. They'll pobably act like they're delivering a miracle to you by coming back with a $575 monthly payment "And that was a strugle with my manager believe me, but I told him you're a good long termer, blah, blah, blah. You need them to get the rate that you know you can get be crunching the unmber yourself.

And there's nothing more critical to this process then the sale price. At $38,000 you are paying $2,385.00 over invoice. The national average according to Edmunds is $37,381.00. So you are definatley getting a bad deal.

Invoice on this car is $35,615.00, without MACO, etc. Call the dealer and tell them that you take full resposibilty for the mistake, but you did not know that you were paying so much for the car itself, and need to get that price down. I would start with no more then $750 over invoice. With MACO and other fees this may be too low for them, but I wouldn't settle for much more then $1,000.00 over, or $36,625.00. If they don't giveit to you, tell them that you'll be forced to shop it. Doon't mention getting your money back; they'll know your heading in that direction. Because you probably did not have a non-refundable clause, you are completely entitled to your money in the event you do change your mind.

Then shop it. Get the best sale price. Don't even talk about financing options at all. Onve you have that price and all other fees, you can start to clculate you payment using many of the tools that pop up in this foru,. and go in armed with information when you mee tht efinance manager face to face.
