I had 225M's on my M Sport.
Covered 36k miles with no problems. Present owner has added another 4k to the tally, still no issues. I swapped from runflats to Michy PS2's at about 22k miles.

Ocean BMW in Plymouth have had no 225 wheels crack, or so they tell me, but I have no reason to disbelieve them.
I have colleagues with 225s and theirs haven't cracked. Maybe we have fewer speed humps and potholes down here. Basically where I'm coming from is that whilst there have been an unusually high number of these wheels cracking it is still only relative. I wouldn't worry unduly about it besides which if you want an MSport you haven't got much choice unless you want to pay out for a different set. Alternatively if it worries you that much then look for an SE with 230s which also can crack albeit fewer cases. There are plenty of SEs with 230s so you shouldn't have trouble getting one. The 230 is a lovely wheel for the E92.

I have had my 225's for about 6 months, I have also hit some pretty large pot holes and they are fine.
I dont think anyone (maybe bmw) has any real bone-fide stats on 225's, but I would suggest it is still a nominal amount that have cracked. Whatever the amount is, it is clearly too many but I think it is still the minority. |
