New Cable for iPod MOST System (Charges iPhone 3G))

hey this is my first post but i've been following this forum for a while. i have the dealer installed ipod most system in my 07 e92 however it would never charge my iphone 3gs or newer nano since apple removed the firewire charging. i've looked through a ton of threads and couldn't find anyone who has found a fix for this however i have so i thought i'd share!

there is a new replacement cable available from bmw which will allow the newer iphones ect... to charge on the 5v system. the part number is 65-11-2-154-179. i paid $56.25 for the cable at the dealer and they installed it today at no charge. the cable works perfect and charges both my 3gs and nano! Just for reference the pn for the old cable they took out is 61-12-0-415-047.

last this is not the y-cable used for the 6fl option where there is a usb port in the center console. this is for the dealer installed most system where the cable is in the glove box.

Reviving an old thread...I've been told by my SA that my existing cable has a circular connection to the interface module and the new P/N (that you have posted) has a square connection.

I have the dealer installed retrofit MOST adapter (car build is 12/06). Does anyone know if there is another cable?

If you want to go a slightly less stock route you can do this: http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1667

Update: I was bored today so took the dash apart and pulled out the old cable. Per the OP, I had: 61-12-0-415-047.

Went to dealership and picked up: 65-11-2-154-179.

Plugged it in and all is good now with the latest gen (touchscreen) nano.

Will the new cable still be backward compatible with older iPods?

Hi

Is signalling through MOST interface digital, as opposed to the Y-cable via the AUX being analog? Could one expect better sound quality through MOST?

All the iDevices since the scroll wheel iPods supported both 12V and 5V charging until the 12V was finally dropped recently. The new cable may still provide 12V in addition to 5, but odds are it doesn't matter.

Negative. Dock connector doesn't have a digital audio output.
