Are all CA gas ACN91 fuel ??
Are all CA pump gas designated as ACN91 fuel?
So Shell V-power 91 and Chevron w/ Techron and Mobil are all low-quality 91 octane compared to the rest of the other states ? I believe these gas come with 15% ethanol as well. Thanks |

Where did you get the info about Shell & Chevron are low quality of gasoline? What is ACN91?
Here in California, we only use 91 octane (maximum). Other states use 93 octane. That doesn't mean it's low quality gasoline. No, I don't think these gasoline come with 15% ethanol. We only use up to 10% ethanol. We once believed that ethanol was harming HPFP, but now it's no longer issue. Our HPFP is doing well in the recent years, so it doesn't really matter if we are using 10% ethanol. Some crazy Bimmer drivers put E85 in their cars (some say that E85 is an equivant to 100+ octane).

Arizona, California and Nevada (ACN) fuels are slightly different than the rest of the country and are thought to be less knock resistant, for this reason many tuners go a little less aggressive on cars running these fuels and even some "canned tunes" have special ACN maps that are less aggressive.
And to the OP, yes as far as i know all "normal" 91 octane gasoline sold in California will be ACN91 blend. There are a few stations around with 100 octane available at the pump and E85 depending where you live, and im not sure if these fuels differ from the rest of the country or not.
