Just like any other engine is mounted in a UKL vehicle - transversely.

This is a new high output B48, not a B58. As you are no doubt aware, the 35i nameplate is in the process of being vacated in favor of the 40i nameplate for six cylinder applications. It will be handed down for use on ~300hp four cylinder models instead.

This is very similar to what has happened recently to the 28i and now 30i monikers as well. As four cylinder engines become more powerful, they take over where six cylinder engines would previously have been necessary. Same phenomena occurs for sixes replacing eights too.

This remains unknown. We probably won't have confirmation on this one way or the other until early next year.

You should really stop this MY nonsense. Besides, doesn't BMW modify things once per quarter anyway? So there are 4 different versions within a model year anyway.

Production date is what counts.
This response isn't helpful at all.

In the US, model years are important especially when we are talking about an LCI which is always the start of a new model year regardless of when it happens durring the calendar year.

This is important because, often we know when the current model year will end, and therefore know when the following model year will start, long before we know details about the exact timing of model updates, packages, and other content changes. For people trying to time a purchase in order to get the LCI, simply knowing the model year SOP is enough to go on.

My guess is if LCI production starts in March we could have a January announcement-similar to competition package announcement this year. If however production starts in July we likely won't hear anything in January..

Ah, that makes so much sense. Thanks. The 35i will be a more powerful 4-cylinder engine, not an I6 engine.

The G20 will begin production at the same time as my lease is up. (11/18)
Bad timing. Not sure what to get next. Maybe 440iGC or used M3.

What does 6GT means? The current 6 will be discontinued after all? They will turn the best looking BMW into this GT POS? Can't believe that.

F22 vs F87 EOP

Interestingng that the 2018 F22/F23/F87 2er/M2 LCI happens at the same time, but the F22 EOP is before the F87 EOP (or it is just not listed yet).

Yes, it simply hasn't been listed. Likely the same as the F22 - could theoretically see EOP sooner, but certainly no later. ynguldyn may be able to confirm.

This conflicts with ynguldyn 's date. His info has proven to be very accurate in the past, so I personally would hesitate to put too much trust in this other website.

Is there any new info out on the 4 series LCI? When can we expect info (updates, packages) to be released, dealer has no information available?
Will we see it in Detroit (01/17) or LA (11/16)?

Regular readers have probably noticed that my updates are becoming less frequent and informative. Unfortunately, this is the new normal. I think we're getting close to the point where I'll be able to make the nature of my work public without damaging any sources - because there won't be anything left to damage.

4 series LCI is shaping up to be a mostly cosmetic update. We got the new engines and iDrive this year, suspension updates last year, the next gen infotainment system is not due until 2018, so all that's left are headlights, taillights, and new paint colors. The cars will be out either in March or July next year (maybe different times for different bodies).

Every bit of info is always appreciated, this thread has been a goldmine for a lot of members already. It's logic that new info becomes scarcer as time passes.
What's exciting is the possibility of having new paint colors available with the LCI. Most likely under the form of 'standard' Individual colors, or as 1 extra M Sport package color as they did for the 1 series recently.
I hope Magellan trickles down to the G30 and F32-3-6 LCI models

Thanks!

So I just heard Alpina is testing the new B/D 5 touring. Looks like I have a new dream car.

It looks like the upcoming M4 CS model (available at LCI next year) will be M4 + comp pack + probably some non-drivetrain bits off the GTS.

You wrote that G32 6-series GT will have the same engine like G30 5-series. Could you write engines lineup for it in EU? Are there M650i and M650d?
