Ok so following on from my post on the previous page, my car started to shudder and vibrate loudly last weekend and hasn't stopped since. I calle big motoring world and they said:

'We can look at it next Monday (I.e in a week) under the terms of the external warranty but if nothing has actually broken then we won't be able to do anything, plus you will have to pay for diagnosis'

I booked it in but got a BMW specialist to look at it on the Friday before and he said a diagnostic showed no errors but the shaking is coming from inside the engine and it needs stripping down!!

£8.5k for a car and less than six week goes by before a serious engine fault develops and big motoring world are likely going to do nothing about it on Monday.

If they refuse to fix it, I will write to the manager or owner to say I'm rejecting the car under the SOGA and demand a refund. If they refuse then its court time, the small claims court have raised the limit to £10k now and I think I have a good case

Has anybody thought of setting up a website to try and give them bad press?

Like get the website top of top of googles rankings when searching for their company name?

Surely a website full of complaints being the first thing you see hen you search for them will help deter people from going there.

They can't sue you if what's on there is factual?

If you type in Big Motoring World reviews into Google, this topic is the 4th ranking. Shame it's not the first, but at least it's on the first page!

That site really is shit and smaks of something thrown together by an 'online reputation management agency' Really just 1 huge page of content where they protest too much that they are dicks.

They must still be selling lots of cars to poor unsuspecting customers as they seem to have a lot of money in advertising and expansion.

It really is a shame that this post doesn't show a lot higher for their brand name but we have probably over optimised for that keyterm by posting it too much in the same format and non contextualy.

Hi all

Due to looking for a new car for my partner we visited big motoring world over the weekend just goners order to find something along the lines of a 320d msport in either a coupe or saloon, we ever looked at late x5's. I couldn't help but join this site after searching google to see the reviews of this place and I must say I am actually disappointed in myself for not doing my homework first however you live and learn and after seeing this thread and more from other sites I wouldn't want anyone else to make the same mistake I have.

We stopped in Friday afternoon and our first impressions wer a nicely laid out site with hundreds of cars to choose from and that within them all we shouldn't have a problem finding the right car with the right spec for us. We searched through the selection for well over an hour and a half and finally found a 10 plate 320d msport coupe which fitted the bill although the mileage was 73000 miles we wer willing to live with this as the car being parked closely to others looked to be in good condition ect, however looking back now it is quite clear we wer going to settle for that car due to all the hundreds of others wer in tired condition with iffy paintwork or with interiors or wheels that wer of budget spec.

We wer fast approaching closing time and I said to the salesman about the high mileage on the car we wer interested in and his response was "pay someone 60 quid to give the car a haircut and know one will ever know"!!!!!!!

At the time there was so much going on and with time running out we decided to go home and have a think about things however was pressured by the salesman to leave a 500 pound deposit to hold the car which was non refundable unless she was declined finance, he told us the interest rate was a flat 6 percent, he also told us that we wasn't tied to that car and we could swap it to another car in that yard so we did (stupid of us I know now) he claimed this was to get the ball rolling and do a credit check ect then said if all goes well the car would be ready to collect 11am the following morning.

After arriving home I put pen to paper and calculated how much interest would be paid on the 15 thousand pounds financed through black horse, I calculated 7300 pounds of interest alone!!!!!hardly 6 percent now is it. I also hpi checked the car and it's mileage history and it came back with inconsistant mileage' after contacting the deal they informed me that according to there mileage history the car hadn't turned a wheel since November 2012 yet for a company that claim to sell 20 cars a day everyday the car is still sat there as we speak. I was also put off by the fact when I said to the salesman that I would go home and view there stock list online he told me not to bother as there was too many fake cars on there just to lure people into there site.

The following morning 9 am I phoned in to tell them I no longer wanted the car as they wer trying to have me over with the finance as well as possibly the mileage and I was greeted with the same salesman telling me she had been approved and the car was being mot'd as we spoke and would be ready at 11, I told him I no longer wanted the car due to my reasons and he said he would take it up with Ching the man in charge of finance.

I received a phone call near on an hour later claiming he'd managed to save me 50 pounds a month and had got me a better rate however I told him I wasn't happy and still wanted out because if I hadn't opened my mouth and said something they wouldn't have told me as I didn't even receive so much as a phone call to say shed been accepted, moral of the story being they take 500 off of people before they even do I finance prop and that it's non refundable unless you get declined finance which is why you get such a stupidly high rate without realising as they don't show you any paperwork or figures until you've already gone ahead with it. They do this to make sure you get accepted and they keep your 500 pounds even if you realise the cars are dogs in the meantime

It got better the business manager was put on the phone and my problem was explained, I was told I'm not getting my money back and to f**k off, he said he had already spoken to trading standards and I didn't have a leg to stand on however when I briefly spoke to them they informed me he was possibly breaking the law as there was no upfront correct information shown to me regarding the finance agreement, he then even began to laugh at me saying I was just a time waster who was to stupid to work out the exact apr percentage and that I couldn't afford the car and was just looking for a reason to pull out the deal!!!!!!!! Even though I picked my brand new car up from main dealer this morning

I find it strange how these hillbillys are still trading let alone expanding andmy best advice to anyone who even considers going there is to give that place a wide birth at all costs

Did you use a card for the deposit??

Call the card company.
Explain the car was clocked, the finance was to see about approval and they submitted it, and that they took the deposit without permission, it was meant to be refundable. Your word versus theirs and I would loose any kind of morals I normally have dealing with these bunch of cunts.

Even if you did the deposit on a debit card as long as its a VISA Debit you should be protected. They obtained the money under false pretence that should be enough

Yes my partner paid 500 there and then with a visa debit card, we contacted hsbc straight after I got off the phone to then to ask for a charge back but big motoring world had immediately took the money and we couldn't pull it back

The other thing that was iffy was on the receipt they provided us with it stated car price of 17995' deposit 500' finance 15000 then at the bottom said balance to clear 2500, we agreed with them we would pay a 3 grand deposit so the other 2500 would be payed when we collected the car. Now surely the finance company should have been informed we actually paid a 3 grand deposit rather than 500 quid which seems that is the am mound big motoring world stated on the receipt that we wer putting down on the invoice to obtain us a better rate

I personally think the con here is pay 500 up front which is non refundable unless finance is declined so therefore they give the shitest rate ever to practically make sure you don't get declined which means they've earns 500 quid out. Of you for literally doing a finance prop

If you paid by CC, I would file a claim with the Credit Card company to get your money back. I literally have no idea how these guys are still trading!

Six weeks after buying a car off them, I have had to shell out £150 for a duff fuel filter and tomorrow I am booked in for a new dual mass flywheel and clutch at a cost of £830.

When I took the car back to them, the technician diagnosed the fault at the DMF straight away. 'Carl', who couldn't even make eye contact the spineless **** simply kept saying, Its not covered under the warranty. I explained I had only had the car six weeks and he said the best they could do was for me to pay parts and they would fit for free. Cost of parts was £750 + VAT and that was OEM!! I went home and found an OEM Flywheel (LUK) for £220 so they were clearly making the labour back on the overinflated parts costs. I shouldn't have to pay anything after only owning the car for Six weeks!!!

I found the owner/ceo on linked in (Peter Waddell) and emailed him. To my amazement, he replied He got 'Bob' his service manager to call me and said if I provide the parts, they will do the labour for free still. My dilema was, let that bunch of cowboys fit it for me for £220 (cost of the flywheel) or pay £830 for a BMW specialist (which included a new clutch also). Needless to say its booked into the BMW specialist tomorrow, all of which is coming out of my pocket. I just don't trust them anymore, how do I know they will even use the new flywheel I provide? They could fit a second hand one for all I know, they probably would!!

Everyone needs to report them to trading standards, the more that do, the more they will take notice. When you drive into the place, there is a huge line of cars marked 'Sold'. Hopefully these are fake sales to make it look more popular and not poor unsuspecting buyers who have bought a dodgy car off them.

Biggest regret of my life is going anywhere near this company. If only I could turn back time and drive straight past them! How the salesman sleep at night knowing they are coning people into paying over the odds for a high mileage, shoddy car which is unlikely to last a month without something major going wrong.

By law all traders must provide a warranty whether they like it or not, if I remember correctly I believe it is three months

I would take it up with the bank you get a lot of extra protection with VISA debit then the old switch / meastro so worth persuing it. In a way they obtained money using deception since the car you where told you where putting deposit down was not as advertised. Worth a try if anything

Ok, so this is going to look really dodgy as I've only posted twice! However, I bought an E92 330d from these guys a couple of years ago. To be fair, it seemed ok at first; looking about with my Mrs at all the cars etc.

They gave me a PX price on my E60 520d before I looked about so I knew what I had to spend and once I'd asked to be left alone I was.

Test drive went fine, negotiation went fine and final price seemed fair. What I didn't like was how the attitude changed once the money had changed hands. I had a snag list, agreed before the purchase and this took some time to complete and the shudder in the wheel I had noted on the test drive wasn't fixed when I picked the car up. To be fair, I'd then found this forum and decided to get the issue fixed by my local garage and it turned out to be a fault with a tyre so no big thing.

I used the car to travel up to Scotland to see my son every other weekend (1200 mile round trip) and even spent 27 hours on the M8 during the infamous snow debacle the other year in it. I was pleased with the car, but always felt lucky I'd not had the problems others had encountered. I'd not go back as a result. After 40000 trouble free miles I sold it.

With regular Internet access I now find Auto Trader a much better resource than walking round 'dubious' secondhand showrooms with the stereotypical 'shark' salesman. I put my dealings with Big Motoring World down to a 'lucky experience'. One I'll not repeat and one I'd suggest others avoid.

My friend just bought a 320i with 113k from these guys. engine light is on after 60 miles, and a local indy has said it has several faults and theyve clearly had a smart repairer paint the bonnet, evidently using a paint brush i suspect.

They sold him a warranty with a company called 'warranty 2000'. Ive told him to go back to Big motoring as its their job to sort.

Sale of goods act states the car has to be fit for purpose for a period of 3 months. I guess the dealer will argue that the car is driving so is ok but im pretty sure if the trading standards get involved then the buyer has a strong case, and the seller usually gives in before court action kicks in.

These guys suck....blatently ripping people off with poor cars.

I just found this and wanted to post, I'm currently purchasing a vehicle from them and found a few things a bit worrying.

First off, I was offered 1.5k for p/x on my car, however it appears they're giving me 1k!!! - Thanks B M W!

Secondly, they are very very pushy, I like the car im buying but im going to be calling the £1 a minute bmw customer services line later to get a few more details on the car. The finance has gone through now and I will be collecting the car in the next few days, I guess all I can do is hope...........

I also said I want to put 1k on top of my 1.5k p/x, they put down 1250 deposit down from me. I found this out after signging it all off, joyful!!! Sigh....

Don't panic yet, as I said previously I got lucky with my purchase. If your car looks like a realistic spec (some at B M W just don't make sense at all and are obviously re-hashed attempts) then maybe like me you'll be ok. I must admit, I was glad when I sold it a year later though.

Get it checked out (as you're doing) but make sure if there's any problems you make use of all legal options available. By law it must be fit for purpose etc etc; a little searching and you'll find the info.

Keep this page informed too. I have only just joined, but the wealth of info I've taken from here in the past has been invaluable.

I was in the market for my E92 a while ago and I came across this place before I read this thread or knew about them. Went over there... they wanted a deposit and my car keys for seeing the car... looked in the background and the car was sitting on smaller alloys compared to the photo... they insisted on taking my card details for a holding deposit... I walked away and did not give them sh1t... sales service was pathetic from the word go. Oh and I had not even given the spec of my car but they had a part exchange figure ready for me and refused to budge on it... check this... my Audi was worth 7k minimum as a part ex and that excludes the extras... first they offered 5200 and they come back and said that its lower than expected and they could only offer 4300. I laughed... I literally laughed in the guys face and walked off... I know where not to go in future.

I think Big MW are brilliant and their customer services are second to none. They are so good I would buy my next million cars from them.





That is all of course a fabricated lie and is on par with what the Big Motoring World staff actually post. Got recommended to pop over here from babybmw for some light entertainment. I actually read all 55 pages in 3 stints LOL. Very good thread and I hope bigsy gets what's coming to him. Those bullish sales tactics do not work well in this day and age. Does he not understand that consumer confidence actually brings more business back? Well done guys on this.

OK, so I've had my car for getting on a week almost.

So far so good, no problems at all mechanically and im averaging 48mpg out of the 320i. - Not bad tbh.

I can't fault the car, it drives perfectly and is immaculate inside and out - The last owner had it for its whole life and clearly looked after it. All I can find is a tiny chip in the drivers door about 2mm in size and the tale pipe is a bit dirty (its the original so to be expected). Wheels have no kerbs, the tires had plenty of tread on and all the same make etc.

When I collected the car they performed the usual trick of removing the matts, I corrected them and made them put some in, which they did.

The car I p/x in was an Audi 1.8t, they found an issue with it being a small boost leak, however they waved this and still p/x it with no charge.

They gave me all the books for the car, everything that came with it, even the spare key!!!

So far so good, cant fault any of it - Perhaps they've upped their game....

HOWEVER, aside from the after sales care when collecting the car and the very nice fitty that is in their office (hehe), I drove home and when I arrived I found the oil light come on. The plonkers didnt check oil levels and it required 1L adding which I promptly did and since then its been fine. - So do be careful on that part!

I'm awaiting a call from them at the moment, they sold the car with 8k until the next service when infact the service book and car states only 4k...... I've called them and heard nothing back, so I went in and saw the manager (Lee) who is going to investigate this and call me on Thursday - Ive said I want a free service in 4k or else to be honest. If I don't hear from them, they are 2miles up the road so I will keep showing up until I get what I want.

I will also when this does happen mark the oil cap and filter positions, the oil cap position, and anything else they change to make sure they do and not pull and wool over my eyes by simply resetting the service counter!

However Im glad I appear to have purchased a well looked after car

Please see attached photos . The leathers were apart of their offered option to leather the car up, it had cloth seats before. - This has been done by a 3rd party which I had discounted heavily (somehow), I'd admit, the job on them is perfect!
