Boss 302 in person

Saw this car at work parking today. Car has a very low key presence, without the 302 stickers I probably couldn't tell it apart from a GT. Massive rubber up front and in the back, I believe 255 and 285+ in the rear. Interior carries same treatment as the exterior, no gaudy stitchings or emblems signify it's a special car.

Surprisingly, this particular car is an automatic.

Ford engineer's swapped out the Mustang's entire valvetrain and bottom end to handle their target goal of a 7,500 rpm redline. The list of fortified parts – forged aluminum pistons, sinter-forged connecting rods, race-spec crankshaft and rod bearings, heavy duty valve springs and more aggressive camshafts – leaves little else to be upgraded and shows just how different this engine is from the standard Mustang GT's. The result is that the motor is stable up to 8,400 rpm

Once again Ford cheaped out and went with powder forged rods. When will they learn?

The above pics are not the real Boss. Attempt at a clone.

Now all they need to do is make it not look like a Mustang.

Maybe hire an Italian or German designer to create a decent interior, get rid of that hideous steering wheel, get some decent wheels.....Get rid of the solid axle...

I'm happy to see Ford doing better and I have no qualms with giving them credit. I mean it looks like this thing is faster than an OEM M3 on a track and that's impressive for a Mustang. It's just a damn fugly car...and it's still a Mustang.

I didn't think they were going to make it in automatic, but with the manufacturers plate, it could be a one-off for an executive.

Boss is a manual only and there should be a 3-gauge pod on top of the dash. It's a dolled up GT.

Profile shot makes it look like a cheap, toy, cereal box car.

Change the wheels and I'd be all over it faster than a 335i. I'm still young enough to prefer a car that's more fun with a livable interior.

I saw a real Boss at the Philly car show. My buddy and knelt down to look at the bypass pipes that essentially dump the exhaust out in front of the rear tires. They were there and looked really nice! I would love to hear this thing with them open. Get electronic butterfly valves and you have open exhaust with the push of a button!

It's an automatic so they can take it to dealers across the country without some idiot effing it up. It's the real deal.

Not a huge fan of the Competition Orange on this car (or is that RR?). I've got my choices narrowed down to:

or

I hate yellow cars (except for the Z06 Vettes) but that Yellow Blaze just reminds me of the original Boss for some reason, even though it's a little darker and a bit more brown from some angles. I like the Kona Blue as well but just don't like the white roof. So, it's down to Yellow or White. Hopefully I can make my decision by Monday.

Can colors be changed for a certain amount of time after the order? I've never had to do that before.

Saw this posted on another site:

"Just saw ford released the rwhp numbers for the 2012 boss mustang 5.0..
416 wrhp at 7550 rpm, 355 tq at 5250 rpm, with a 15% drivetrain loss thats 478 hp. Ford advertises the boss at 440hp"

If thats true, this car is going to be fast.

I believe it was insideline who did a dyno and came out with 416. I'm not sure which dyno it was or what corrections, etc...

But yeah, even on a generous dyno, 416 to the wheels is not really close to 440.

if those numbers work out to be true it will be a great car, new suspension and wheels and it will look 100x better too.

+1 . Tired of listening to a lot of people on here judging a car in full factory form. Especially when most of their e92's are modded to the teeth. The right aftermarket wheels and a lowered stance do wonders for any car .
