Totally Confused by IDRIVE Update Options
Hi, I have a 2006 330i M sport with the Pro Sat Nav and the 2006 DVD. I have read the instructions and tried different discs to update the iDrive to V.32 so I can use the 2009 Nav (acquired) discs and the following happens:
If I use a single layer disc with 2009 Nav, it tells me the 5 minute thing so I shut it down then I restart it 5 minutes later and it then says error reading discs. If I use a dual layer it does not read it. Also if I try the iDrive update using a CDR it does nothing. Is this version of the system simply not able to be updated? As far as I can tell the PRO discs are too big for a single layer DVD so it must be a firmware thing and I cant even see anywhere to access the version number.. |

Do a search for 2009.1 and up nav discs. They ship on DL DVDs but don't backup well onto blank DVD+R DLs. However, I *may* have heard about a certain type of slightly modified 2009.1 iso with some data removed so it can be backed up onto a single layer disc. Also, I don't believe you can update the progman (ie to what you're calling v.32) on your own. That's completely separate from the nav data.
