Mine was around 83000 kms. Stupid water pump. Changed the thermostat at the same time for peace of mind.

Water Pump & Thermo replaced @75k

Replaced mine at around 160k with thermostat as preventative maintenance. I think it was still the original but not 100%

Was going to do preventative water pump replacement in March for annual service, mechanic said hold off, you will hear the radiator fan going nuts and the car will sound like a 747.

Sure enough 3 months later in June, the car sounded like it should have been on the air strip

With the 2006 325i I had, it died in 2015 when the car had done ~44,000kms. The cost to replace it along with the thermostat was around $1100.

Replaced at 67,000km

Mine died with zero warning on the freeway in afternoon traffic. Limped across 3 lanes into an emergency bay. -_-

Fortunately my car has been very reliable apart from that.

Best to have a used one in the shed so that you are not waiting a week to get a replacement if your water pump fails
