iDrive Office Functions
I have a 2011 E90 330d with combox, prof nav. The BMW compatibility website page says it should support email, SMS and calendar sharing with my iPhone but all I see is Contacts under Office and no SMS notifications at all. Also when I pari my phone I dont get an option of "Show Notifications" like when I pair with my Jeep !
Any ideas ? Why does this not work ? Thanks. |

Probably doesnt work on iPhone. I've got an Nexus 6 (Android) and it works fine no problems. Trev88 has a combox but doesn't show SMS on his iPhone either.
Might be some settings on your phone, you can try this out http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...7#post12757177

BMW Australia since came back to me and said basically even though my VIN comes up on their website saying Office is supported for email, SMS and Calendar it varies between countries and Australian models in 2011 may not support these BTW I am really only after getting SMS's to work. |

I paid BimmerTech to unlock BMWapp, once it's unlocked, calendar can be seen under connected drive sub-menu.

BTW, IMO, I think only BMW apps is worth the money. I also activated internet service so I have live weather, google search, local info etc. But, never used then... I would say, internet service should come with NBT handwriting function. It is so painful to use idrive to input letters in google! Just let you know

Agree with Eric here... even if you get this to work you will probably never use it.... so much easier just to use your phone

I reckon the SMS feature is pretty cool, especially when you're driving and you dont want to try and grab your phone out of your jeans pocket, or get caught 'conducting illegal activities' in your car such as reading a SMS whilst driving

FWIW in my NBT retrofit it reads out the SMS, cant help the OP on how to enable this though!
My advice is to contact one of the 'coders' I can give you the email address for the guy who we purchased our NBT's from? |

Should work with CIC without any extra FSC codes, like I said its probably iPhone related. Get a friend with an Android to pair with the car and it'll most likely show up.
This is out of my car: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=70 Its a great feature, although with people using Facebook messaging and whatsapp it'll probably be less useful in the future. The CIC can play the SMS message via text to speech too. I have also coded DVD in motion which also allows you to read the SMS while the vehicle is in motion. Also update your Combox with UPD1008.bin (the bmw website seems to be buggered at the moment where you enter your vin in, so heres a direct link) http://www.bmw.com/_common/shared/ow...n/UPD01008.bin Put it on a FAT32 formatted USB into your arm rest (not your glovebox) and go into the settings menu and select software update

If it doesn't work with Android you might have need to go into the bluetooth options in your idrive and make sure all the stuff is enabled for that phone. Can't do voice commands to siri, that's not supported unless you have NBT
