First "Proper" cleaning of the 335d

So I picked up the car back in Jan, and have been washing myself but couldn't help but notice in bright sunlight it was absolutly covered in scratches / swirls as well as some white patches around a recent BMW repair paintjob. Fortunatly I work with a guy (RyanD) who is a bit of an enthusiast over on the detailingworld forum and he put me in touch with Simon Baker (Baker21) based up my way... which led to a saturday morning trip to Redditch to get a job done on it...

the full write up is here http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=168562

Having never had a car cleaned to this level I wasn't too sure what to expect, but it was amazing what they achieved with the paintwork and worth every penny, especially when I saw before and after side by side on the panels. The best part is watching them work meant I could ask questions along the way and take tips to guide me when trying to now keep it clean on my own. It was a bit murky so the before photo's don't really show off the state the paint was in.

Before:

During:

After

Anyway I thought i'd post this partly to show off what Simon and Ryan achieved, but also if anyone was thinking of getting a detail but wasn't sure it was worth the extra - hopefully this will help your decision.

I do like metallic blue when you can get that mirror finish on it! Looks superb - can we ask how much?

Looks very nice cdb, my Le Mans was a right PITA to keep from swirl marks, I had it's paintwork done a couple of times and was very careful how I washed it. Le Mans does look fantastic when in good condition though.

thanks for all the nice comments, I love the way the paint came up.. just a shame my mileage doesn't keep it this way all the time

Quite lucky as both Ryan and Simon were working on it, in all roughly 8 hours. In reality there's still bits that could have quite easily kept them busy longer - almost debadged it but couldn't make up mind. Really happy with the base they've given me to work from now,

Afraid I been through my pics and get any real close ups of the door handles after - most of the pics are in the DW thread, from my pics the only real close ups i took were bonnet and boot lid where there was quite a lot of marking, are these close:

cost wise around the £200-£250 mark, but that was based on what I told them I wanted from the day, and work involved, I would say anyone looking at having it done is best off dropping him a message with a wishlist of what needs doing to get a more accurate idea

I would say £200-£250 was about right - but would I clean a car for £125 for ~8hrs work plus materials??? Erm nope!

PS I think it looks lovely, great result, must get mine done.

not sure to be honest, those were on already but i'm going to replace them because they've taken a beating on the motorways and are covered in chips. closest style i've seen are the SSD carbon fibre ones.
