limp mode
Hey guys I need some help. After about an hour of driving in the texas heat 101 today my car shook and engine malfunction came on.checked oil temps and it was below 250 like it always is. I pulled over stopped and started the car no issues long crank etc. After about 3min limp again and ses light. I got home and let car sit for an hour and I changed my jb3 map from 5 to valet. No limp now but ses light still. Waited about four more hours then started her up and no errors after driving for 8min. Only thing I noticed was the dash temp was displaying 108 still at 830pm. Any thoughts?

Drop BMS an email and they will help you figure it out. I'll never understand why people ask for help from complete strangers when the best technical support money can buy is an email away!

Don't understand why I ask strangers? Ok.... I just went back out and changed to map 5 and ran it hard for a little bit and no limp mode oe any error. Maybe water temp got to high? Also I never mentioned it was a juice box issue.

considering you have a tune, it is best to troubleshoot this through your piggyback distributor/ or maker in terry's case. But Mike is right, in a way contacting terry is the best help you can get, forsure. Glad 2 hear the problems been resolved, hope it don't come back. GL

Coil packs are $40, so they are not expensive.
Regardless, if it is happening under boost it is most likely ignition related. If you want to find out if it is your coil packs, get a BT or even an OBD2 scan to find out what cylinders misfired. Then swap those coil packs with different cylinders and note the change. If the coil packs are bad, the misfire should change to the new cylinders you put the coil packs in. An example would be, misfire on 1 & 3. Swap the coil packs from 1 & 3 with 2& 4. Now if the misfire shows up on 2 & 4, then those coil packs are bad. |

When my HPFP failed, everytime i got on boost the car would go into shake like a hooker mode. The whole car felt like it was gonan shake apart and as if i had no motor mounts.
Shortly after limp mode, and a steady SES light. Best bet would be to go and get the car scanned with a BT cable, see what is happening. |

Thanks for all the help guys! On my next day off I will get the car scanned and get a BT scanner tool in the next week or so. I am happy to report that I drove on map 5 in DS to work which is about 20min away from where I live. Ran it hard on some stretches and no errors. I know water temp and cause a limp but would it trigger an ses light? I have not driven the car as much as I did yesterday in the Texas heat before.

Yeah you need an oil cooler bad to take the heat here. I won't know if it was a heat issue until I run a scan on it. I hope thats all it was, not sure if ses will come on though for that.
