Take off your charge pipe or intercooler and look in there. Heck, take out your T-MAP sensor and look in there.

Techies correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the size of the turbo is the issue here, we 335iers have Direct Fuel Injecton which makes the problem worse.

When you're doubling the boost on those tiny snails then it may be worth it. I installed my helix FMIC this weekend and saw about half a shot glass worth of oil sloshing around on the inlet side of the intercooler. The outlet side was relatively clean comparatively, but oil still coated the walls so it was definitely passing through.

Matt, you've done a few IC. How much oil do you usually see?

catch can necessary ??? OH YEAH!!!!

i have a few friends that are techs for BMW dealers and the concensus is -- YES

officially speaking no one at BMW will say the cyclone separator and cc venting system is not up to the task of processing this engines oil vapor in an efficient manner.. but the "proof is in the pudding" - no pun intended.

after picking up my car, one tech told me that i should pick up a catch can, as they are seeing a few incidents of rough running and erratic performance on higher mileage 335's. I asked why and he said the cars came in and after 2-3 troubleshooting sessions, they pulled off the intake manifolds and saw the caked carbon on the intake valve. they did what he called a "de-carb" on the intake valves and the problems went away. that was enough to sell me ..

but after hearing that the riss occ was leaking i have been hesitant to buy anything, till i hear its resolved or there is a better kit option other than putting together a kinney can, im in a holding pattern

i just don't have the time and "horsepower" to get into a piece meal project, even though i hear good things about it. plus i drive only a few miles to work and back -- i use another car for the rest of my tasks.

I miss my suby, but love my evo and can't wait to get an e90. That's a good looking catch can too. Someone should talk crawford into making stuff for the N54.

I'm so close to pulling the trigger on a McKinney Catch Can. What to do what to do.
