After googling the first two, I got "swirl flap actuator" for it

No luck on the last code. Hopefully someone can help.

P.S. Would the "swirl flap actuator" be enough to cause my "engine malfunction/reduced power" message? Also, would it be something that they would have touched/altered under the most recent recall?

Good thing I bought the extended warranty last month.
What did you end up finding as to the 4C18?

I'm assuming it was related to the swirl flap actuator issue as at that time the dealer said they pulled 20-30 similar repeat fault codes.

Yeah that POS drives like a wet mattress. I tried driving with a spirited driving style and nearly removed myself from this world

Unhappy 335d - 2009 - 52K miles

Had the same issue. BMW first changed the mass flow sensor. Got the car back. Drove for a few days and issue came up again. Now they claim that the swirl flap actuator is faulty. $1,500. Ouch!

If you're on your own dime I'd suggest to pull the intake yourself, send it in for ultrasonic cleaning and put that additional clip on as mentioned in this SIB:

Good info. Dealers like to replace a lot of expensive parts. The problem could be the swirl flap do not actuate properly because of CBU or as the SIB suggest a missing $4.75 clip.

Seems like a lot of issues are CBU related. I learning a good first step if you are ~40Kish miles or above and start getting codes.......then CBU clean if never done. Clear codes. Then continue troubleshooting if codes come back.
