Jules mine to at Bruntingthorpe would not pull past 4100 and 155mph an indicated 160+ (off the clock) I too have the same map as you?!

Rob raised it there and then for you?

Glad you had a good day, unfortunate you couldnt get a higher top speed mate.

Jules.
I have been down brunty in a 535d at 174mph GPS before we bottled it and a customer with an early 535d did 176mph GPS in Germany.

Hi Simon,

Was it a Vmax event where you saw the 174mph, or was it over a greater distance? As you would need well over 400bhp to get over 170mph over 1.6 miles.

He checked it and said it was lifted but the car still stopped at 155mph (off the clock for a while), he then had another look and said he raised it further and a couple of other things?? but it made no difference, it was at this point that he said that he wasn't sure what else could be done except for putting an older version of the software on......but I didn't want this. What I do know is that the car feels as good as it ever has if not better, and I would not want to compromise changing the map with another Tuner in case it still didn't go beyond 155mph and the map might not be as strong or smooth. Apart from Vmax I'll get near that speed in everyday driving.

Jules.

It wasn’t at the V Max day, I am regularly at Brunty with work and have the track to ourselves sometimes. The car didn’t do the run from standing start, we used the top wide bend flat out and then powered down the track which gives a big advantage

The top speed limit on any BMW that is limited is set at 258km/h which equates to 160.3mph, (dont ask me why BMW did this) then allowing for the speedo to read over the top speed stops at 160mph on the dash or around 4100rpm.

The top speed limiter within the mapping is not a single value on the 535d/335d, it is a calculation of a number of values making up the top speed.

I know one customer who takes his car to Germany regularly also got 176mph on his GPS took a photo (passenger took it), I will try and get it if he still has it.

Brunters its quicker to do a standing start at the very back of the runway . What I have seen is people starting at the back from a standing start where travelling quicker at the point where a car would have exited the fast bottom bend at 75-85mph to straighten up an accelerate.

If the limiter is at 258 km/h, why haven't I ever been able to do more than 260 km/h (speedo indicated)?
The speedo obviously shows a higher speed than the car is actually doing, so why doesn't it show 270-275 km/h, which would translate to a realistic 258 km/h?

I hope I made my self clear...

The speedo is only calibrated to 160mph and stops moving round at 160mph as the car is limited to 161mph. With a delimited 335d/535d the speedo stops at 160mph and if you watch the rev counter is still keeps going round

Ignore the speedo, use GPS to verify your speed. Speedos are so inacurate at high speeds.

wouldnt say all cars are innacurate, some are worse than others Bmw dont seem to be that bad.
Alpina B3 apparently at over 180mph is only 4mph out.

A veyron apprently is cock on.

An Murcialago only does 182mph down brunters, cant see how a 335d can do 175mph in the same length.

Simon from E Maps has been banned, I asked him the other day about the e90 forum when he was here doing a neighbours cars. He is a good friend of mine and has done many cars for me over the years. He doesnt read this forum anymore so I keep an eye on it for him.

From what I know Simon informed Forum admin about the threats he recieved from Evolve Automotive. Admin did nothing about this even though its against forum rules so Simon asked to be removed, Admin did which is why his signature says "banned".

Shame really as Simon has been around for years mapping cars on various BMW forums and has a lot of experience and a lot to offer. I have never seen a bad word against him which is why I trust him with all my cars.

I am sure you will catch him on other forums but not on this one.

Simon wanted his emaps membership account to be completely removed, which would have had the effect of removing all of his posts & threads completely from the forum.

This would have had the follow-on effect of removing posts created by other members who have also contributed to the same threads as Simon.

The forum admins thought this was not appropriate & have therefore left Simon's posts as they were before he left.

Personally, I was actually involved with sorting out the 'fracas' unfolding between Simon & Sal, none of which I'm going to go into here.

Ultimately, it was Simon who chose to leave this forum. I wish him all the best & I hope he has a good future in the work he does.

I've told him that he'll always be welcome to post on here, but, as you say, he has chosen to leave.

All the best.

Just another vote for Simon, I have never used him and always tend to use DMS for my remaps, but Simon has always been extremely helpful and a true gent supplying me with info etc. even when another company had done the work.

I have only ever heard good things about Simon and know hundreds of people who have had their cars mapped by him.

It's always a pity when situations like these arise. I've seen it quite often on other forums and usually the person banned has deserved it. I don't know the circumstances around this particular dispute but Simon has quite a good following and is always informative on the forums he posts on. I've never used Emaps but have often recommended them to friends/colleagues/forum members alongside DMS for remaps on their respective cars, and will continue to do so, a Companies reputation reflects their volume of work and satisfied customers and Simon has this. I am currently very happy with my Evolve remap and impressed with the level of attention given to me the customer and my requirements, good customer service and quality of product are the two key factors that pursuade me to part with my money and all three companies mentioned tick these boxes. I am sure that Simon / EMaps will continue to prosper despite not posting here.

Jules.

Can anyone explain what this 'Fracas' was about. I spoke to Simon two weeks ago, and he didn't mention anything about being banned, or any fracas.

A PM will be fine.

I quickly checked his posts and can't see any issues.

Probably best to leave it as it is then.

Simon is a good bloke known him for a couple of years. He did the remap on my 335d. All i can say is there isnt smoke without fire.

That said ive also spoken to Sal about remapping and dyno runs and he also came across as a good bloke, so maybe its no more than a nose being put out of joint.

Then again there is no smoke without fire

From a clients perspective if tou need a dyno plot use Evolve, if you dont then use Emaps as he will come to your house to do it.

If you want a custome remap on a dyno Simon uses the Surrey Rolling Road btw.

The option is there for both.

Its a shame Simon has moved on, I can confirm however that my e-map remap has had the limiter removed. On my recent trip to Germany the speedo stops at 160mph but the revs continue to rise, via TomTom my top speed was 165mph. I couldn't get a long and quiet enough stretch on the autobahn to get any faster, by about 155mph the rate of acceleration had slowed considerably ....
