My 335d E91 For Sale £3,100

No, this post is not in the wrong section!!

The beginning of the story is:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ooby+scratched

After being paid out by the insurance company (16days from accident to getting the cheque in the bank!), I have been looking on the Salvage company's site. It has finally surfaced

http://www.bluecycle.com/car-salvage-auctions/15109250

It's had a bit of work done to it - when I last saw the car, the driver's side front wheel was firmly embedded in the driver's footwell. It is possibly "fully floating" now! The front bumper wasn't split either. The rear bumper is just pushed on - the towbar, and therefore the bumper irons were removed, and I have both the towbar, and the original bumper bracket in my garage!

It was a good car, but it needs a bit of work now. The damage report says that the bodyshop would replace the side and roof of the car, the repair panels being surprisingly cheap. It needs a new front subframe, engine mounts, and the hole in the engine repairing!

It's quite frightening to think that someone will buy this car when it's been repaired. I just hope that the repair job will be done well.

Hopefully it gets repaired the right way. You will most probably see it on eBay or auto trader once its repaired.

I remember seeing it this on the net few days ago. I thought to my self I remember seeing this on e90post but forgot who's car it was.

It's will sell for more then that.

I would of bided on the car if none of the airbags where deployed.

What car do you have now

Glad you got paid out quickly mate.

I really hope this car does not end up back on the road. The kink in the roof is awful.

Still without a replacement, so I'm Mondeo-Man at the moment.

I'm looking around for another E91 335d as it seems to be the best car for me at the moment. Can't get one in the colour that I like, for the money I want to spend!!

Carl, you can't see in the pictures, but the Pano roof popped clean out - it was lying in the grass undamaged!

The salvage market is quite an eye opener. So many cars making it back on the road but in what state of repair? It's a real money maker as well. Were you offered the chance to buy it back by the way?

No, I wasn't offered.
The car was gone before I actually got the cheque - which I found out because I wanted something from the car, and it was just going out of the gates. I did get what I wanted though!
I wouldn't have taken the car back, even though it might have been tempting. A few years ago, maybe, but not now. Also, with my daughter getting married next month, the run up and all the preparations are stressing my wife, and she would have had a sense of humour failure if I'd have come back with a dead car!

Like anything nothing wrong if repaired correctly but these online salvage co's are quite clever, they will give a badly damaged car a pull to make it look better to the eye also making a vague description of the damage to cover everything so no comebacks for them, some unsuspecting buyer could buy a vehicle that needs far more money spending than the car is worth especially if they paying someone else to do the work, if I was thinking of buying anything like this I would be carrying out a personal detailed inspection first.

Count on me for the pictures.

The Mundaneo has been with us for 18 months now - 1300-quids worth of 2005 115bhp TDCi Ghia! Nearly 120k miles, but it goes OK, does 60mpg at legal motorway speed, and I don't mind piling half a ton of rubble (in bags) in the boot to take to the tip! It pulls the caravan (just!) and pulls the bike trailer OK, so, as a stopgap it is ideal.

I just wish someone else other than Ford (and the derivatives) would use the overboost on diesels. Even at 115bhp, it really pulls hard from 2k to 3k. Nothing above or below of course!! Ideal for the overtake.

See the bids at £4500 at the mo Mike with 11 hours left. That price excludes vat
Ps just remembered from the original post that it had bust the sump or something. I doubt whoever has bid on it is aware of this and I'm sure more. Someone's gonna get stroked.

The price is moving all the time.

I doubt anyone would buy a car that badly damaged unless they knew what they were doing and accept the possibility of further damage.

The price is nearing £5000 now.

The fear is that the car is repaired badly on bought to transfer its identity to another stolen car.

Price is moving fast £5400 as I typed this.

More than just a moderate front ender though. The roof is buckled.

It really is moving. £6600 now.

It has made me think about that old Mike Brewer programme where they would buy a car that was damaged and repaired it to save some cash for the buyer.

Often they would boast they have saved £1000-1500 over buying a proper used example ignoring the fact it was an insurance write off and would only actually sell for much less.

Mike, I posted in the original thread, but was your accident on the B5013 between Stafford and Eccleshall?

That right hander looks very familiar, just like the one by Walton Farm.

And there's a Horsleys of Stafford removal van in one of your pics.

PS I love the posts where poeple seem to be saying that it's a dangerous 'single lane country road' - your crash was on a nice looking bit of clear, well surfaced, well marked, wide main road in my book!

Townies should stay in town

This is a single lane country road:

It says on the listing that the engine is "damaged"

Finally went for £7415 + VAT

Keep our eyes open on eBay for YF09RXA in a couple of months!!!

Ha, I was looking for a more typical one with centre grass, tractor mud ruts deep enough to get lost in and all awash with lashings of cow slurry, but couldn't find a pic!

Can you put up the serial number , so it's recorded for prosperity on here.

A LCI E91 with pana roof in blue is on my list of cars to buy in a couple of years .. would really like to avoid this one, it'll probably be sold with a "Private Plate" so knowing the serial number would be dead handy

**EDIT**

found it in the original thread ... A494086

I cannot see this being repaired!!! Unless they ho to major lengths cutting roof of etc. if so would be a death trap, if anyone turned it over in the future!

Just having a look through the damage report - new roof is "only" £737, plus £150 for adhesive. Complete side frame is "only" £460.
Headlight is a shocker at £667, with the steering rack £979 exchange!!
Front subframe and interior roof lining are both just over £400. Where is the logic??

Forget the cost, it's the fact it's been buckled. The roof replacement part will be a skin surely. So it will need pulling out underneath. That will be weaker now.

Had a letter this morning - from the new owner of my car . . .

He was a trader - he buys scrappers and puts them back on the road. He says that he deals almost exclusively with Audi's & BMW's. He was looking for the Service book, spare keys etc - which was posted to the Salvage firm, so it looks like they have gone walkabout.

The guy said he's been looking for a touring for a while, but as he got mine he decided that he was going to put it together and keep it for himself. He reckons on doing a few mods - making it into an M3 Touring lookalike - subtle and not too bling. Sounded good.

He seemed to be pleased with the car's history, and I was able to let him know where it had been serviced, so he could get the paperwork.
