Is this creaking noise normal?

Did a search and didn't find anything so here goes. I have a 2011 335d that I just picked up as a CPO car with 29k miles. When the car is cold or when it is loaded down with 4 people or even a new tank of fuel, the car makes this god awful creaking noise which seem to come from the entire left side of the interior cabin. I have seen posts about a parcel shelf issue but I don't know if that is what I am dealing with. The car came from the local BMW dealer here with an extended warranty. Thank you in advance for any help with this

More detail would help. Does it creak when everybody gets in the car but it isn't moving? Creak when driving down a very smooth road? When does it creak? Without any other info someone on this forum might suggest a poltergeist.

To be more specific, the creaking occures when transiting a driveway or speed bump. If the road is not smooth it will be making noise. I agree, this not normal. I will be taking it back to the dealer but I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this. I just hope this wasn't somehow a wrecked vehicle. Wouldn't think it would qualify as a CPO car if it had...

Not an expert in these things, but sounds like some shot bushings somewhere.

For years I complained about a creaking coming from the right side of the rear parcel shelf and they could never locate it. It would USUALLY only happen when I transitioned over a tall speed bump or entered/exited a parking garages which had a dip/bump when turning onto a street.

One AM years ago I hear a loud crack/snap. It was really cold that day and the dealer didn't find anything which snapped.

I was just talking to my wife about this exact issue, this past weekend. It seems like it is the rubber seals that go around the doors. I noticed this started happening after it rained one morning. It sounds terrible. Like I'm driving an old ass car!

Sorry, I'm new to this car. Could you elaborate and explain? Is this a common issue?

No need to apologize friend. A simple search on the forum will reveal that creaking and squeaking noises in our cars are very common and it's a sad fact that we just have to suck it up. Maybe it could be the rubber door seal because I had that issue in the past and the stealership shockingly fixed it.

If it's the rubber door seals try cleaning them well & then treating them with some "gummi pflege" - unfortunately it seems that the Einszett product (all that you can buy now) is inferior to the product sold by the BMW dealer for this purpose and guess which one is significantly more expensive...

if you think it's the seals though I'd run it by the dealer maybe they will do it for you if you are under warranty

I have the same issue. What exactly is the fix for the parcel shelf repair?

I just do like the old NAPA commercial and turn the radio on and then its no longer a bother.

I fixed a very annoying squeak in the car. At first I thought it was coming from the seat, but alas it was in the door. More specifically it was the wood trim inserted into the door panel. The screws inside the trim are floating and can squeak as the car moves. I put a glob of silicone into the screw landing and then put the screw back in. Then I put the trim where it was previously and no more squeaks. I took it in to the dealership for this problem and they didn't fix it. Apparently I'm a better mechanic than their techs

Another of the few advantages of old age---hearing loss. Don't hear the squeaks so much and/or can't sort them out from all the other ambient noises. Having said that, I do hear a slight drone between 40-55 mph that started after I did all the upgrade work earlier this year. Now I've even got used to that.

Very good. Appreciate all the help on this guys. The door seals sure seems like a good place to start. I will call the dealer tomorrow and have them take a look. I was worried it might be something sinister like a previously damaged car. I hope it is a simple fix. I love this car, good to know there is a a great site like this for support. I will certainly get better acquainted with the search button. Thanks again!

There are no noises that are acceptable on a car of this supposed build quality.

I bought my car used and it did this. The dealer lubed the door seals with some kind of lube stick and it's been good since. It was very concerning. The sales guy told me it was normal. They sell a lot of used BMWs and he was correct.

At least we don't have the wind noise of E92s, when the window seals get old and dry out the windows don't seal well at the top.

So I took my car in for this annoying noise. Also the SES light. The service advisor said that there is nothing they can do about it. I'm kinda pissed. How can they not do nothing about it? My car just hit 40,000 miles. This is ridiculous! I already contacted BMW NA. Just waiting for a response. Although I don't think I will get anywhere with them.

Gee, my SA went out of his way to find a noise, even brought the mechanic into the car and I drove it. The second service call they found it. It was a pocket clip for a name badge that was buzzing: not even part of the car!

Well they did agree with me that it was the seals. But they said that I'm shit out of luck
