Rattle noise after turning engine off

Can't seem to find any info on this but when I turn my engine off I'm hearing a rattle noise coming from underneath the engine.

Its the waterpump, right? I don't have any check engined or any other warnings other than this noise... my waterpump is 25k miles old. Seems odd...

do you have a manual? 6MT rattles clutch/transmission a bit if you don't hold down the clutch while turning off the car

have you jacked up the car and removing the under carriage plastic shield?

may be able to get a better understanding where it is coming from. that's where I would start.

This, hold the clutch in when you turn off the car and see if the noise goes away

all my bmws have rattled when i shut them down if I dont depress the clutch.

No its not the clutch. Rattle stays on for like 1 minute..

Oh, when i hear that, its usually the hookers trying to get out of the trunk.

+1. I always hold down my clutch when turning it off for that reason

wastegate rattle i get that too when turning off my car and i also do hold my clutch down when turning off the car... mines only lasts for 2 seconds not a minute. did you get any mods done recently maby tech forgot to tighten somthing properly.. downpipes?

if it persists for more than a few seconds after the car turns off, I can't imagine it being anything other than the water pump.

That's what I figured... I suppose I should be expecting a CEL soon?

i've noticed this too but it's only right after i turn the car off it'll rattle for less than a second. i'll try the holding the clutch down later today.

I tried this and it worked for me. No more embarrassing rattle noise when parking
