As I've had good service from OEM BMW batteries, I stick with them. BTW, I assume you are planning to register the new battery...

My battery is almost 6 years old so I'm wondering what are the symptoms that your battery is dying?

OEM battery is not that expensive.

Stay with OEM parts.

Mine is over 7 yrs old and still works ok but sometimes when its cold I get slow crankings, also battery yellow icon displays on dash if listening to radio a minute after you turn off engine. I recently found out that your REST residual heat stops working along with rear window defroster. (ECU does this to save all the power possible to be able to start)

I believe the fact that helped my battery last all these years its due to I drive 90% freeway at high rpms and always charges battery at the fullest. Weather also helps since here in San Diego CA, tempetures dont go below 50F usually. Also very important, always in parked in garage and kind of warm. I ll be on the lookout for a new battery soon as dont I dont think I ll make it through another winter.

I also need to replace my battery but i cant decide wether to register it or not. according to this post we dont need to register it, http://www.justanswer.com/bmw/4qd9b-...2007-335i.html. Does anyone know where to buy an oem battery by any chance? most online sites dont ship it because it hazardous. After you check out they will send you a cancellation of transaction within 5 mins.

Well...my dealer charge $70 to register. If you can't find anyone to do it cheaper, $70 isn't too bad, gives you peace of mind. Also, why would you need to buy online, no dealer near you? Are online OEM battery cheaper? My dealer sells them for $200, I think I'll just get it from them, install myself then have them register it.

And Mike Miller of Roundel, as well as BMWNA, say registration is necessary. The reason is that the device which actually controls the rate of charge (the IBS), has to be informed of the new battery - it doesn't "learn on it's own over time.

I just put my second battery in about 2 weeks ago. Symptoms were dragging starter with lights dimming when pushing the starter button. On the morning I replaced it, it almost left me in place after a few starts.

Indy put in an after-market that was slightly larger, but still fit in the spot. Went from about 550 cranking amps to 900!!!!! $245 for the battery. I can check the type when I get home as I never saw it after he installed.

You are looking at a Group 94R battery that weighs 45 pounds. I went with a Group 49 Deka AGM weighing closer to 60 pounds that fills the battery tray and delivers the most CCA and reserve capacity, with low internal discharge rate.
