<<< ESS Tuning - Any N54 DME Flash for $750 >>>

ESS Performance Products has been tuning BMWs for over 18 years. Based in Norway and with services in the US and around the world, we have tuned thousands of BMW vehicles. A strong history of supercharging and forced induction backgrounds makes tuning the N54 to perfect a natural step into the future!

Our full DME flash comes in 3 flavors:

Stage 1 makes 11psi - 350hp/360tq and requires 91 minimum octane.
Stage 2 makes 13psi - 375hp/380tq and recommends 93 octane.
Stage 3 makes 15psi - 400hp+/425tq+ and recommends 93 and upgraded IC.

See this post: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193156

ESS Tuning engine software is available on ALL MSD80/81 equipped vehicles including the new 2009s.

All flashes also include a raised REV LIMITER (7200) and remove the TOP SPEED limiter directly.

All stages will adapt to current bolt-on mods including intakes, diverter valves, downpipes, and exhausts. The better the car can breathe, the more efficiently it will make more power!

We offer a FREE option to disable the post-cat O2 SES function for catless DP operation (For off-road use only).

All ESS Tuning flashes include the lastest Progman updates, smoother throttle usage, upgraded torque management, FULL direct control of boost curves, wastegates, ignition curves, fueling curves, smoother automatic transmission operation, water pump speed modifications, VANOS, eGas, EWS updates, and more. They will adapt from 91 to 100 octane automatically, no need to switch any maps. They adapt specifically to your driving style and engine specifics. There is no fooling the DME here like non-flash products, this is direct FULL DME CONTROL.

It is not visible to dealer diagnostics and will pass all Test Plans normally. It will not trip "detection" codes. It has not voided any warranties. It is not a "copy" of Alpina's work like other flashes are. ESS Tuning MSD80/81 flashes are new from the ground up and are specifically written for each vehicle, not cookie cuttered from one master.

This software was 2 years in the making and is the result of hundreds of hours of dyno time and thousands of miles driven from Scandinavia to Arizona. This included Autobahn and Nurburgring testing and extreme weather and altitude testing.

ESS Tuning strives for safe, reliable tuning options for users who understand there are limits. ESS worked with Bosch, Seimens, and MHI to get the most accurate information possible when pushing to the SAFE limits of this engine. This includes multiple stages of safety fueling, never operating the turbos past their max rated impeller speeds, and carefully tweaking the cool-down and temperature maps to maximize the life of your engine and driving experience.

Simply ship the DME to one of our programming centers (Arizona in the US and Norway in Europe). Use our custom removal instructions and order form, protect the pins and connectors on the DME, and ship it in. Normal turnaround is 24 hours from when it is received. Plug it in and enjoy!

All you have to do now is, PICK YOUR STAGE!

This is an E90Post Special for everyone here:

ANY STAGE - 1, 2, or 3 is ONLY $750.

Feel free to PM me for more information or email sales@esstuning.com!

BMW NA recently changed the policy on updating DMEs with every service. Standard SIBs used to read to update the entire car (all modules) each visit, but due to the time (sometimes over 2 hours) and associtated costs involved, it was changed. This also partly had to do with the influx of owners who would go to dealers asking for new Progman versions because of hearing that new versions would solve perceived throttle, boost, wastegate, or other issues.

Now, only affected modules are updated when the specific update will resolve a particular issue. So, for example, a Sirius radio update will not include a DME flash.

What this means to you is: unless the DME is faulted or needs a specific emissions-related update due to a non-compliant failure, they will not flash it.

Regardless, just in case, ESS will flash the DME up to two additional times at no charge to you. Simply ship it back to ESS.

Will there be any other programming centers opening in the US in the near future? I don't feel comfortable taking out my DME.

At this time, it depends on dealers that want to purchase the read/write interface. Because it is nearly 6k US, it is out of reach for most.

Removing the DME is not difficult and perfectly safe if you follow our supplied instructions. Most people actually over-protect it when they ship it in. Simply a layer or two of bubble wrap (mostly for the connector and pins) and a sturdy box is all that is needed. The DME takes way more abuse installed in the car and its actually powered and running at the time.

ESS has been doing this with DMEs for almost 2 decades. It's OK.

We received a good PM, so I will post the information here to assist:

--------------------

If there's any data or evidence that BMW can not detect this flash then it's something I'd love to see it. I'm currently testing a JB+ and am considering purchasing either a JB3 or a Procede simply because I can remove it if needed but I'd prefer a flash given the option.

Also, I noted that an upgraded IC is recommended but not required for a stage 3 flash. Will the car adjust downwards if I don't have an upgraded IC and will it also adjust upwards as I add mods like an upgraded IC and a DCI?

Does physically removing the ECU for shipment cause any codes to be thrown?

------------

Response:

If you follow the order form instructions to remove the DME, you will not get error codes. Most of our flashed cars have gone in for warranty or maintenance work, including replacement of the HPFP, without detection. One (a 08 335i) even asked for a Full Scope test and it ran perfectly normal. This is a major benefit for the flash. You don't have to take it out to go in.

Turnaround time is typically 24 business hrs from when we receive it.

Yes, Stage 3 will downgrade w/o the IC, but doesn't seem to make sense to order Stage 3 to have it make perhaps Stage 2 power. It also changes the way power is delivered having the stock IC in place, so it may not be as smooth as we wanted it to be.

Any other questions are welcome!

Are those crank hp numbers or wheel hp numbers? Also would you guys be able to un-flash the ECU if one were to want to switch back to say the Procede, or Juicebox, etc...

If I order a stage 2 flash and decide to purchase an upgraded IC later on down the road, can I send my DME back for a stage 3 upgrade and not have to pay the full shot(750) for the upgrade ?? Also ,the hp/tq figures stated for each stage,is that rear wheel or crank...thnx...Ron

Ha -- I just read this post and was getting ready to delete for being trollish, then realized you were responding about crank HP!

We need some member reviews of this flash.

The DME costs about 2k new, no need for 5k. And we have yet to see a lost DME.

Previous question: If you want to upgrade stages at a later time, it is only $100 once you have the flash.

Is it possible to get stage 2 or 3 and keep the original 7000RPM redline?
