California gas and Cobb AP

Hey guys, I read a ton more than I post on this forum, mainly because I don't really have any automotive expertise to share.

Well...after a long period of reading and researching tunes (and after convincing the missus) I ordered a Cobb AP today. My car is a 07 335i E90, bone stock (for now). I do have a DCI on the shelf in my garage but haven't gotten around to putting it back on.

I live in SoCal, but I only fuel my car with V-Power or Chevron Premium. I have tried to find the answer to this question by searching, but have been unsuccessful: Will I be able to run the 91 octane sport maps where I live?

Alternatively, should I use an octane booster, like NOS or Lucas Oil?

Thanks!

According to COBB...California, Arizona and Nevada 91 gas is not suited to run sport or aggressive. However, some people have also ran it with no problems...ultimately its your car...ur risk if you want to not follow cobb's suggestion...Me personally, i just set it on the drive map unless i mix with a higher octane gas (100)...then ill switch it to sport

I think sport may be a bit aggressive for ACN fuel. However, once you get the AP installed you can datalog and see how the car likes sport.
Octane booster does help(IF it contains MMT), but it may not be practical to use it for every single fill up.

if you want to run the sport maps: log, log and log. that's all I'm going to tell you. If you don't want to log just run drive maps

I am in CA too. Or you can do what i used to do. with Sport, I used to get a splash of 100 in there to up the octane (I'd put in 1 gallon for every tank).
Then I decided to just have more fun, and I put in enough 100 to get me to 93.3 octane..I guess I should still log though.

This..but I ALWAYS fill up at the same Shell station...I have to drive a little extra to get there but never have any problems at this place with logs...if I go to other Shell's or Chevrons I have issues sometimes...So anyone in Cali running Sport SHOULD log if they are running it on 91 only..bc even some of the Shells suck crap!!

Where do you guys find 100 octane in SoCal? I use to know only a few spots but they no longer offer it.

I go here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/grahams-76-newport-beach

100 octane at the pump. Last time I filled up (about 2 weeks ago) it was $10 a gallon. Not cheap by any means.

im no expert but the main thing to look for is to log all the cylinders and make sure the timing are looking good. if they drop and never climb back up to at least 8 during WOT, then it's not too ideal...
that's just my understanding, don't quote me if im wrong.
