NBA Lockout

Looks like the season won't start until January. Sucks. Wish I could watch the Lakers, don't like their new coach or Metta World Peace.

They need a good guard and a good backup center / power forward

Hoping for a season to start soon! this is a real shame

Depending on how the coach decides to run the offense, could potentially be desperate for a PG, Fisher was perfect for the triangle offense but otherwise not your strongest candidate at the PG position.....but when you have the best player in the NBA, KOBE BRYANT, it compensates

the way i see it, if they don't strike a deal that allows them to start playing in december, then there's no point in attempting a season. this shit has gone to ridiculousness already. the owners has pretty much won on all contested areas, so they should at least give up 52% BRI.

Do you think the NBA can recover if the strike goes on much longer as the NHL never did. Personally, I loved hockey until then. Lost interest as most of my friends did and never looked back.

I can't understand why nobody will just take a 50/50 split and be done with it. Especially in these economic times, holding out for more $$$ when even the benchwarmers make ~$400k just seems absurd. I mean shit even Scalabrine made $1.2 million last year.

At least there's hockey to watch.

The NBA will recover just fine if the season is cancelled. It is still arguably the second favorite sport among Americans. It will be disappointing, but I would be very surprised if basketball takes even the slightest hit that hockey took. I'll still be renewing my season tickets ;p

Because every 1% accounts for something like $250MM. Players had 57% BRI under the last CBA. You can see why they aren't signing for anything less than 53%. If the season is cancelled, the owners will have the upper hand and the players will likely get hosed.

in philly, we have a mediocre basketball team so most people don't even care about the lockout

I am not surprised just when the Knicks actually have chance of being a respectable team again this happens.

This should be interesting, The players bought some serious firepower

Hunter said the NBPA was in the process of converting to a trade association and that all players will be represented in a class-action suit against the NBA by attorneys Jeffrey Kessler and David Boies—who were on opposite sides of the NFL labor dispute earlier this year, Kessler working for the players, Boies for the league.

“The fact that the two biggest legal adversaries in the NFL players dispute over the NFL lockout both agree that the NBA lockout is now illegal and subject to triple damages speaks for itself,” Kessler said in an e-mail to The Associated Press. “I am delighted to work together with David Boies on behalf of the NBA players.”

Stern was not impressed with his legal adversaries.

Eh. Let them miss a few paychecks and watch them begging to get the same offer they just refused. A lot of them are living paycheck to paycheck, and most don't even have a college degree.
