European Delivery Personal Costs
Hi guys...
For those of you who did ED, how much money did you spend out of pocket for all the associated costs, like airfare, hotels, special dining, etc? a rough etimate would be good, but a detailed one would be great... Matt |

I was between 3k and 4k for 16 days. I went with pretty inexpensive lodging, but spent more on the activities I did. Spending a couple days with relatives helped save on the cost though.

less than $1,500, but I only stayed in a hotel one night ($140.00--Mariott in Munich). I have relatives there, and they provided the food and shelter! I spent $850 on the flight and the rest at the bars and clubs out there....oh yeah and filling up your gas tank with $100.00+ in gas with each fillup!!! This was for 5 days.

It was family of four trip during pick summer period, 16 days:
$4150 airfare during July $2200 hotels approx $400 gas approx $200 toll rods ( I wish I can buy a stretch of fwy there) approx $1500 food approx $300 presents, museum pass etc. I don't think I got a huge saving here. BUT THIS WAS OUR BEST VACATION EVER!!!!! :rocks: If I got time machine and roll back time - I will do the same trip again with just minor adjustment to different hotel in Lucerne.

It's important to keep in mind that costs will vary greatly based on season. A room that costs €200 in season might cost €90 other times. Same thing for air fares. Nivki did remarkably well budget wise given a trip with 4 people during the height of the summer holiday season :rocks: :rocks:

Just for fun check price for round trip from LAX to Munich in September using German LTU - shocking $289/person
EDIT: I think it's one way $289+ tax - steal 50% less that I pay for July tickets. And look - they operate by LH - maybe 2-4-1 possible.

What Nivki said.
You should do ED for the experience and not to save money. It's not worth it for the savings unless you choose miss out on a huge opportunity for the holiday of a lifetime. Europe is expensive and right now the exchange rate is not in our favour either. Besides, the only thing that makes the wait for redelivery tolerable is the memories of the trip.

I did ED in July. Flew into Munich on frequent flyer miles ($50 in fees). Two tanks of gas, which, I think ended up being about $75 each. I was staying in fairly nice hotels (I'd very much recommend the Hilton Stadtpark in Vienna), and was coughing up about $140-180 a night. Food costs are highly variable, as they are anywhere.
