is there loads of soot in the exhaust? maybe wipe it then drive for a little and see.... if it has DPF you will get very little if no soot when you wipe your finger around the pipe.
also you'll hear a lot of turbo whistle and diesel smell from what i gather from youtube videos when i'v toyed with the idea |

There is slot on the exhaust but I don’t get turbo whistle. Also just noticed that there is no particle filter option in the service menu on the idrive, guess it has been removed. I managed to update the car anyway excluding engine ecu as didn’t want to have to do that again. |

its not on the iDrive.
give the pipes a wipe out, go for a drive and wipe your finger around it, if its a light dusting/none then if its like mine, you have a DPF, its its a sooty mess and your finger is black after a good drive then chances are you don't.... |

as said,,when idling you may smell a little derv fume and the tips will be sooty..but only real way will be to get it in the air and take under trays off, either its been removed or gutted,,either way you will be able to tell, unless the dpf box has been welded up very very neatly.but i doubt it looks as neat as when left factory...also if you have not had any regen problems or even a regen should tell you it aint there.

You'll soon find out at an MOT from May onwards - tightening up massively on diesel particulate emissions - any derv that left the factory with a DPF will be a definite fail from May onwards if it's been removed.......

depends how it was removed and if the inspector can see the DPF and if its been rewarded and if they actually care.... depends on your MOT place i guess in terms of that sort of thing. signed of a welded def is meant to be a fail yes, and no smoke when reved but you should still pass if its a clean removal... |

Right checked with rheingold and got 0mbar on idle, 2000rpm and 4000rpm so I guess it’s been removed

Post 2014 particle emission limits are also going to be substantially dropped (so obviously won't apply to any E9x car) from their current 1.5 max so certainly no diesel with a DPF registered after this date will pass without it's DPF. |
