Code 29DC but interesting fix

So had my car serviced at my dealership in preparation for my big trip down south. Had brakes done, and basic service. Got my car back, thought i'd open her up and WHAM... code 29DC - Cylinder Injection Cutoff everytime i do a WOT. I check the forums and all basically say the same thing... HPFP.

This would be my fifth if it was the case. I told the dealer this so instead of the usual 'replace the hpfp' they did some investigating. They found some carbon buildup so do a full clean and tested the hpfp which held pressure as required. Gave me the car back and i've been running it for 2 days and NO ISSUES AT ALL. No more code and the car runs like a champ!

It's your low pressure fuel pump. Do yourself a favor and have it replaced before you come to the airstrip event. You WILL trigger that code and make your runs miserable. Only costs $250 and is easy enough to do yourself (30min job). If that is the code you've been getting all among, they have been misdiagnosis your issue.

Funny enough, have no other codes except this one. Car is clean otherwise.

Ah yes.. Better yet, buy it online for ~$230USD and do the job yourself. If you do a search, you will probably find the link to order. It comes as an entire low pressure fuel system assembly. That means pump, bucket, fuel level arm, etc,. Definitely an easy DIY

Sad but time is running out. I have to be on the road Thursday, so no chance I can order it, get it up here and install it in time. I might have to bite the bullet and just buy it from the dealer here.
I did do a search but didn't see the part number.

Actually I can't be sure. Shiv figured it was my lpfp. I was going to replace it but after the carbon clean, I didn't have it come back. But, I had a loose turbo inlet pipe do I had lean codes on bank 2. Not sure if this was all related. After they did a smoke test, replaced that clamp for the inlet pipe, no more codes.

Sad to say, not sure what the issue or resolve was!

Ok

Carbon clean is the filter in the tank ?
Is a INPA procedure or physically clena the filter ?

No, carbon build up in the intake heads. I really doubt this was the cause of my issues. There are a few threads on DIY carbon clean or walnut blasting.

It could have been just a fluke case? I haven't had anything come back again. Its getting into racing season soon here. Once it warms up, I'll beat on it more to see if the code re-appears.

I think a momentary interruption of fuel flow during a track day session.

Another possibility is something wrong on the new 3-17 maps
Before (11-25) no particular problem durind a track days

I investigate

If the problem happens on the track, it could be fuel starvation from hard cornering.

I really doubt it is the 3-17 map as mine happened on the 11-25 map. I've been running the 3-17 ones and no issue.

Check the operation of your low pressure fuel sensor. You'll need a pressure gauge and a way to read out what the low pressure sensors status is. They usually are showing lower pressure than than the actual by 1-2 bar. It'll set fuel pressure faults as a result of not being able to reach the specified pressure when in fact it is over the requested low pressure supply. That's just one example. It's actually part of the hpfp recall to check faults and the low pressure sensor operation and replace if necessary. That shows you how great they are .....

Yes
appears only on the track with tight curves and hard cornering.
However, the tank was 30 liters

There are a few possibilities.

1) You are getting faster, and now the fuel is moving around even more than before. I see this on customer cars as they get faster / more advanced.

2) The low pressure fuel pump is getting weak. When this happens, it is not able to pump fuel to the HPFP adequately and push fuel through the "sucking jet pump" to move fuel from the left tank into the right tank.

3) The sucking jet pump is not functioning properly. The LPFP is on the right side of the tank, and the sucking jet pump, fuel filter, and pressure regulator are on the left side of the tank.

You can replace just one side unit first and try again at the track. I would replace both units complete at the same time just to be certain.
