Havent had time to get back on with it yet to be fair mate, and now the funds have taken a battering because of the winter tyres, could be january untill i get a move on again with it!!

And yes i agree better to be safe then sorry!! If they last me a few seasons ill be happy!

All tyres bought on mytyres are shipped from Germany I believe. At least all 6 sets I have bought have been. Usually takes about 4 days once you get the tracking number

I've just ordered a set of 439's for my m sport, stuck with the OE staggered sizes. Insurance asked if sizes were changing, if not they weren't bothered.

Anyway, how did they all perform last winter (even though it was fairly mild)

Also, anything in particular I need to do with the type pressure monitor (
I drive)

What about storing the summer run flats, is it best to lie them on their sides on top of each other (don't have masses of room in my garage)

Can't really offer a back to back comparison with other winter tyres but IMO the Falkens were top notch. Until last year I hadn't ever driven anything rear wheel drive in the snow, plenty of front wheel and four wheel though. All I can say is I've not driven anything as sure footed as the BM with the winters on.

I was pretty much the only thing moving in my road which was quite funny. I wafted past several cars all stuck at the bottom of a hill in my village and honestly think without the winters my car wouldn't have made it off the drive. If it did it certainly wouldn't have made it back!

It's not just the getting going though, it's the steering and stopping which was also quite unbelievable. I'd say your more at risk of something not stopping behind you at junctions, roundabouts etc. so you have to leave room for others following!

Pressures I just used the normal BMW ones and storage I just stack the wheels one on top of each other with a foam mat in-between.

I will probably look to have a set of winters from now on regardless of what car I have in the future. Nice to know the family have an increased level of safety in the icey, snowy winter months.

Op, liking the mv3 in dark grey, suits well with the car.

I have already put my 359 style rep winters on, they seems quieter than my p zero Nero summer in 19s, I have mounted some verdstein winters on the winter set at e moment, found that they were quite good in rain too

It is best to get the winter tyres as recommended by BMW for your motor.
Insurance companies normally give a waiver for fitting winter tyres but only if they are:-
'as recommended by BMW for your motor'.
Unfortunatly this is not nessesarily the tyres one would like to fit.

I would go 225 all round. BMW recommend this, and BMW approve that Pirelli tyre, look on www.realoem.com.

You can then put the slightly more worn rears on the fronts next winter and probably get 3 or 4 winters from them.

Got mine on now..... Went for 359 reps from Bm autosport in 18" with Nankang sv2 fitted as part of there wheel package... Had a read of some reviews on the tyres and they get mixed comments... So we will see how it goes seem to be ok in the dry weather, just need some of the white stuff to try them out now... Haha

I've gone for 18" staggered sizes (225/40 and 255/35) Falken HS439s on style-189s, refurbed in anthracite. Yet to fit them though.

I ran Kuhmo KW27s in 225/50/16 on my Z4 for the last few winters - rate that as OK but not spectacular - grip in the wet wasn't the best but I put that down to the narrower width hence compromising this year with 255 rears on my 330i.

Nankang SV-2s: got them on my campervan lol. Not the best winter tyre but far from the worst. Towed the wife's stranded car out of a snow drift a couple of years ago (before she got winters for hers) without a problem. Get good ratings from Merc forums too.

Only other winter tyre I've used is Falken KW23s on the wife's Fabia vRS and again they're OK - not as good as the KW27s I had though IMO.

I do this with WRG2's (now replaced with WRA3's) and after two winters I have one pair with 6mm and one pair with 7mm so if I do the usual 5-6 k miles on them for this Dec-Feb then mine look set to give me 4 winters worth even working on changing them at the 4mm where winters stop working properly...

Just got some Falken winter tyres fitted today after getting the car back from the garage (new bumper due to little old lady driving her little Civic into me). Have to say not at all impressed with their grip in dry conditions, temp was -1 today and the rear was spinning up much easier than the Michelin RFTs I had on before...I'm hoping they'll improve as they bed in abit.
