No more being a sucker (E90/E92 research)
Hi all,
really happy i found this site, learn quite a bit here. Have been doing a bit of reading for the last 2 weeks and thought i post a little request for help. My 2006 SG E90 325i lease expires Oct 09 and i'm thinking of getting another BMW. I'm paying $798/mth (yeah, ur right, i'm a SUCKER ) Is a demo with 5k mile with just memory seat when i got it, .....(yeah, bigger SUCKER). Actually, there was a negative equity from my 350Z which i traded in. Anyway, thought i do some research before i jump into one (i'm done with being a SUCKER). Hope someone can give a fellow member some advise. I'm ready to jump into one between now to Oct and i'm thinking about either an AW E90 or E92. This is my thought. Should i have a change and get the E92 since i have had the E90 for the last 2.5 year as i would prob feel like driving the same car? Reason why i was considering the E90 is coz the promotion 0.9% BMW is offering now. Should i lease an E92 (i can't imagine keeping a fun car for too long )? Not much of a fast driver, in fact a very law abiding driver , so i'm considering more of the 328. Test drove the A5 but the torque (responsive) wasn't even close to my 325i. This time, i want to be prepared when i go to the dealer. Any advise and commnets are greatly appreciated. |

It really depends on what fits your needs. Do you need a four door to haul around the family? Can you get away with a coupe? Those are the first things I would look into.

Pretty much me and my Lab.
Guess i could get away with a coupe.... I'm more incline to a coupe anyway.... for a change . Didn't want to buy a coupe and in a few months BMW comes out with a new facelift. Any idea about any new facelift for the E92? How about 2.9% purchase against leasing? (pretty sure i'll be looking for a new car in 3 years) |

If I remember correctly, the coupe facelift is due for MY 2010, which should go on sale end of this year.

Definately wait for that, wouldn't bother ordering a coupe before then.

You'd risk being stuck. If you want to obtain an MY 10 car, you probably won't be taking delivery until the middle to end of October. This is assuming there are no delays with engine certification, highway safety certification, etc.

Seem like you are pretty sure there is a new facelift for the E92. Any link you can refer me to? Also, don't think there will be much difference in the facelift otherwise it would be a new model huh?

If you like the way the '09 coupe looks, then don't feel the need to wait for the facelift.
I was in the same position last year wrt the sedan, and I went ahead and picked up an '08. Never have looked back. As it turned out, I don't like most of the facelift. |

i wouldnt necessarily say you're a sucker...it really depends how much negative equity was rolled into the 325.
As for the new car, go drive both and figure out which one you like better. We can't make a decision for you since you're the one thats going to be driving it for 2+ years. |

Don't worry about getting the new car by the exact date of the end of your lease. BMWFS will do a 1 month courtesy extension on your curent lease even if you don't have a deal locked in. When you get a deal locked in you can extend for a total of 6 mths. I have actually got 2 mths extension from them and don't have a deal yet.

There's been a lot of talk so far about what car to get and not so much talk about how to not be sucker. To not be a sucker, you need to be as well-informed as possible. In order to do this, you'll need the following:
1) Invoice price list for the model you're considering (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=307800) 2) Decide on the options you want before heading to the dealership so you don't get oversold 3) All the relevant info for leasing (MF, residuals, etc.) for the particular month before heading to the dealership Again, information is the enemy of suckerdom (yes, I just made up a word). Do your homework before heading in and I guarantee you'll come out with a fair(er) deal. |

The link is current. Prices for a certain MY are posted around September of the previous calendar year as that's when BMW begins production. These prices are subject to change (like when BMW increased prices across the board in July of 08), but I haven't seen anything regarding price increases for MY 09 models (apart from the base increase over 08 models).

I don't know what your financial status is but for the first time (at least I think it's the first time) ever you can get discounts on an M3 doing European Delivery. If this was available when I purchased. I would've jumped all over it
