Well life is not always good. Just about to try and bleed the clutch (again) here at 5:45 IN THE MORNING!

Picked up a Motive Power bleeder yesterday (thanks God I have a local race shop near work). Hopefully it will do the trick. If you don't need to bleed the clutch DON'T!

I may have already posted on here, but my brain is befuddled at the best of times.

Currently 189,000 miles (320D e91) on it's original clutch (although it's slipping) and have managed 135 miles so far on less than a 1/4 tank of fuel

Work done on it so far: replacement hydro pump for pressure sensor fail. That's itů.!

The bonnet / hood looks like a sieve due to the stone chips, but still drives amazingly!

OP, I have a 2006 325i with 178k on her. The oil pan seal is leaking and a shop quoted me $900. They said it was a 7 to 8 hour job. Does this seem like a fair price? Thanks for your advice!

The oil pan job is a real pain in the ass yes but you can probably get a better deal

221958 miles now!

Miles keep pouring onů 221958

Figured I would just hop on Efthreeoh original post rather than start another one.

I am experiencing the - you can't reset the oil counter BMW program F-up as Efthreeoh described in another post, sucks for those experiencing it!

Battery replaced once
Starter once
Both Vanos relays and cam sensors replaced awhile back.
Water pump still original but just started getting stat codes, we all know what that means!
ZF auto trans still original and flawless, fluid changed religiously every 50K.

Have you tried simply tightening each oil pan bolt with about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn (Inside to out)?

Already started, hope you don't mind me using your past research as a starting point.

Not at all. Do you need a copy of the notice from BMW? I posted it as a .pdf somewhere around here. Let me know. I can't even tell you how whacky the e-dipstick is behaving now. I keep track of it. It goes over 3K before it drops a 1/4 quart, then drops a 1/4 about every 1,300 mile there after until it goes +1qt. I top it off with 1 fresh quart and then it drops 1/4 quart in 1,000 miles.

Nuts

Thanks, I have already downloaded the PDF and yes the E-dip seems to only react to 1/2 qt. intervals in my case. I will start paying attention to the miles, I have found that after an oil change I will do a warm-up check to make sure it's in the safe zone then I will go for a drive and check it again, it's always a lower reading after about 50-75 miles.

I really think that BMW doesn't understand the software code well enough to realize that taking the oil quality data out of the system messes up the e-dipstick oil level data processing, or it was always wrong the other way and now it is measuring true

My engine leaks a bit now (rear main seal and slightly at the pan) and probably consumes some oil at a higher rate too, but the drastic change in e-dipstick behavior came after the CBS started ignoring the oil quality data. I can't get past any non-technical people at BMW to make this point to the engineering department under the PUMA case.

Frustrating.

Yes it is frustrating and many of these cars will easily reach in excess of the mileage we currently enjoy. The increasing public pounding BMW will receive from original and current owners should be substantial. You know, if they would have keep the dip stick this wouldn't be such an issue for me. As the more savvy coders start beating on this issue maybe a solution will be made.
