I looked in my notes and found the following:
61131393723 is the male pin for the A pillar
61131393724 is female pin for the plug in the door and FRM if I remember correct.

These are the 0.75 version, make sure your wire is correct size and use the correct plier.

I've retrofit power folding mirrors to my 08 E90 328xi sedan. I've previously had memory, heated mirrors. I had the coder code the folding mirrors to my car before I've installed them. After I installed them only the driver side works. It folds and I'm able to adjust it. The passenger side is not doing anything at all. I can't adjust it or fold it. I though I had a bad mirror but I connected it on the driver side and it works fine. I've downloaded the schematic from BMW TIS to check the wiring and the wiring is correct. It is a 3 wire LIN BUS system. When I put my old not folding mirror I can adjusted it properly. Could it be a coding issue? I know these auto folding mirrors work with the LIN BUS so it should be plug and play after the coding was done. What do you think I should check?

If you previously had memory mirrors, no extra wiring is requiered...
Maybe you did not install the socket properly. I think you can plug it upside down.

Try it again.

Thank you for the help. This mirror for some reason died. The seller is sending me another which I should get tomorrow. I will try tomorrow and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

boy, they weren't kidding on price for mirrors and parts...almost not worth doing.

I love the mod, but having to spend close to $700-$800 just for mirrors... WOW!

Yea, but unfortunately, none of desirable retrofits are cheap: it's usually better to buy the car with all the features you want already installed than it is to upgrade piecemeal.

Anywho, I really wanted just the auto dimming aspect but all used mirrors with auto dimming also have the heated and power folding options as well; still both nice options to have.

Hi all, I'm interested in doing this for my lci e90 it currently has no memory seats. Could I have a list of what I need to buy for a RHD ? Is it complicated to do it DIY I have no experience in retrofit before? I really want the auto tilt function mainly but was quoted aud $2850 to do it by another bmw specialist so am thinking maybe I could get 2nd hand parts and DIY. Also Any recommendations to where I can find the parts I need would be greatly appreciated?

You only need a pair of mirrors (I got them in a Scrap yard) and the driver's switch pannel.

Then you have to modify some wiring and recode the car.

Regards.

I finally got around to retrofitting the power/heated/dimming mirrors (LCI version) and these are the coding changes I performed (in conjunction with a dimming interior mirror):

VO
  • Fold-in Outsider Mirror: $313
  • Interior/Outside Mirror with Automatic Dip: $430
  • Interior Mirror with Automatic-Dip: $431

NFRM
  • Folding Outside Mirrors: SPIEGEL_EINKLAPPEN = aktiv
  • Automatic Electrochromatic Dimming Mirror: SPIEGEL_ELEKTROCHROM = aktiv
  • Outside Mirrors Heating: SPIEGEL_HEIZUNG = aktiv
  • Comfort Closing Folding Outside Mirrors: SPIEGEL_KOMFORT_EINKLAPP = aktiv

CAS
  • Comfort Opening with Remote Control: KOMFORTOEFFNUNG_FB = aktiv
  • Comfort Closing with Remote Control: KOMFORTSCHLIESSUNG_FB = aktiv

FZD
  • Automatic Electrochromatic Dimming Mirror: EC_SPIEGEL = aktiv

For the Comfort Closing with Remote Control, the mirrors will power fold only after holding the Lock button for the prescribed amount of time. The mirrors will automatically unfold the moment the car is unlocked. Cool stuff!

I did notice that the driver's mirror appears somewhat curved and thus slightly distorts the reflection enough that it sometimes causes my vision to seem crossed. Not sure if this convex curvature is normal with the LCI version, heated glass, both, or perhaps the used glass is defective in some way. My original non-heated pre-LCI mirror is flat with no distortion.

BTW, since I have a sedan, I had to remove the door panels in order to remove the tweeter covers since they are integrated with the wrap-around window frame trim cover.

That is because your glass mirror is not in its best moment... Maybe it is going to die soon. When this occurs is because the dimming surface is peeling off the mirror.

Regards.

Connecting only the right wires means that you dont have to route any wire inside the car. Only you will have to swap your mirrors and solder some wires at the driver door switching center.

No extra wires at all.

Succesfully tested in many e90 cars with manual seats and standar mirrors.

Of course, the right way is the way that djerik has explained but it seems to much work for me.

Regards
Do you have some instruction?can you explain please how to do this?

If yes, you only have to follo this DIY (basically, you have to change both mirrors, the windows switch panel and recode).

If you have the most basic one, (No tilting) then you have also to change a few wires at the windows switch panel.

Kind regards.
Jose_JN - can you tell me please which wires must be changed at windows door switch?

2) Bought (used) switch cluster for driver door.
3) Bought two (used) mirrors (foldable, heating & dimmable)
4) Bought (used) wire harness for passenger door fitted for foldable mirrors (it's also possible to make alterations on the existing cable from 5 wire mirror to 3 wire mirror connector but I preferred OEM)
5) Bought new pins for FRM and doors connectors
6) Installed one wire from FRM to drivers door (LIN bus)
7) Installed one wire from FRM to passenger door
8) Installed one wire from fuse box to passenger door
9) Coding

I cannot remember the pin numbers in the connectors but I can look it up. There is however a risk it does not match your car and hence I recommend the ISID software
Djerik

Did you look up the pin numbers? If so could you post them?

I'm after the ones used in numbers 6, 7 and 8 in your list above.

Thanks
