Right, but the Cobb does nothing to effect readiness unless you have catless downpipes. These values are kept intact.

maybe you guys can shed some light on this for me.
first off im coming from a subaru. my tuner used open source to tune with because spending 500$ on a AP was a waste sine i had a data cable for my laptop. with the bmw,its different. ive got low miles, warranty and with that comes the option for dealer work. what i really like about the jb4 and procede is being able to run a e85 mix and what seems like really solid whp numbers.but the install R&R is a major pita. with the cobb i can flash back to stock for dealer trips. how is the AP stacking up against the jb4 and procede? ease of use? for parts im looking at a better fmic, cattless DP,intake and later down the road RB turbos. |

From a simplicity standpoint, the COBB is #1. Since everythings through your OBD port, you never have to lift the hood to install/uninstall or update your firmware. It sucks that the COBB is the most expensive tune, but IMO it's money very well spent. |

Cobb will be superior to both PROcede and JB4 within a few years, but right now the piggybacks really bitchslap the Cobb in terms of power capabilites. My advice: If you want a simple to use tune that is great for typical bolt ons (downpipes, FMIC) then the cobb is great and provides safe and reliable power. If you want to all out and start running E85, racegas, or meth - i would probably go PROcede 1st choice, and JB4 second. Cobb will undoubtedly get there, but it will take sometime or a protune (very few shops offer protunes right now). |

I think people are getting confused about 2 different things. If you are taking your car to the dealer, and flash back to stock, then yes you should drive the car for a bit after uninstalling Cobb.
If you are taking the car in for emissions check and you are not running catless downpipes, either change to map 0, or just leave your current cobb map in place and you should pass readiness tests and sniffer tests without issue. |

That's what I was hoping to hear. @benzy, I know the sim isn't necessary, in fact I ran for a while without it, but I am going to have to go in for emissions ODBII scan soon and don't want to remove DP's to do so. I don't really mind removing the flash for the check, but if Cobb works as rader1 describes I think I'll just take it in as is and see what happens.

is there anyway to get the cobb to auto clear ALL codes so that I can get my state inspection? I am getting weird lambda codes and i need them to just go away for like 2 days so i can pass inspection(i dont have to pass emissions, just cant have a check engine light)

lol they check with the OBD port I would still need to have the systems marked as ready. Think I'm just going the same route as my roommate, he found a place to sell the sticker for 100 bucks lol.

Thanks! Already done!
Hopefully they work quick. Because waiting for the AP while in delivery is one thing. But having it here on my desk and not be able to use it is killing me! |
