2010 335i JB3

Im really close to pulling the trigger on a 2010 , but after reading dozens of threads that continuously say. Limp mode, CEL, fuel pump, etc. I must say i'm a bit intimidated. The last thing i need is to get this car then worry about voiding warranty - fuel pump going bad - costing me 3 grand , the list goes on. But its really difficult to watch all the videos showing how amazing these cars perform with such a simple modification. I almost don't want to buy the car unless i get JB3 . Also the car I'm PROBABLY getting is not going to have the Sports Package option so if i decided to go with a tune would i have to clarify that so i can get the limiter turned off?

If you do get the 335, do yourself a big favor and get the sports package..Trust me you'll beat urslef up later for not getting it....The sports package comes with the oil cooler and your car will run much cooler.. My previous 335 had the oil cooler and i beat the shit outta her and she never went over 250F wit the SSTT on.. now my 2010 335 does not have the oil cooler nor the zsp and even by driving her gently she stays at 250+F and with out a tune...i did one run up to a 120 mph and she was at 255-260F.. i was very disappointed to find out that by not getting the sportpackage i would loose the oil cooler... If you do plan to get the JB3 oil cooler is a must....

JB3 does not remove speed limit.

Get the sport package! Better seats, better cooling, higher top speed, and better turning radius i believe.

I drove from NY to AZ in a 335 w.o. a sports package or oil cooler. JB+ at 75%. Middle of august. Below sea level to over 10k ft. over the Rockies. The car never went above 250F.

Another option is to buy the car and then buy a used Oil Cooler. I saw a VK OC go for 500$ in the classifieds. I think if you track it you need the OC.

What about other cooling mods such as an aftermarket intercooler or Meth? A car with Meth and JB3 would be pretty sweet but it depends if you want to deal with that on a new car...intercooler for FL might be a good idea anyway for the summer heat.

This car is starting to get too expensive already...
Is everyone ABSOLUTELY sure that there is NO oil cooler unless you get sport package? On bmw's website it says the only difference with sport package are wheels, shadow line trim, and sport seats. But I am aware that they may leave out some details.

The problems you see coming about are so common, that most dealers wont give you two bits about the issue.

As much as its routine for dealers to maintain and service cars, the same goes for replacing fuel pumps

Ok but in all seriousness, yes sport package, yes oil cooler, yes just get the car and let the problems find you and start enjoying.

Problems FTL! Is it possible to order jb3 with another custom map or something that removes speed limiter also?

You do not want to remove the speed limiter. It will pose an issue for warranty. The speed info is gathered from 4 different modules around the car from what I found out, and there is no way currently to delete it without leaving a trace in the ECU. Not a good idea.

Also with regards to people getting CEL and limp modes after putting the JB3 on it rarely has to do with the JB3 and more to do with an existing condition. Typically people will drive the car harder after the JB3 goes in and get it hot and it can go into limp mode as a safety measure at that point. The JB3 on maps 1-5 depending on fuel used are not going to be a big issue with getting the feared tuner codes. maps 6 and up can give you detection codes and if you are smart enough to buy the BT tool at the same time then you need not worry very much at that point since you can delete them. People tend to stress over this a lot I know. There are 1000's of JB users on the road to date.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR THOUGH AND GET THE SPORT PACKAGE. I made the mistake of not getting it.

From what I have read and heard you need to get the sports pack in the RWD but if you get the XI you need to get the sports package and the 18' rim upgrade or else no oil cooler. I could be wrong(it happens all the time) but thats what I read on here.

Bad idea. Those guys dont know their asses from their mouths. It's because of them I did not get the sports package.I was trying to save some money. I think my 07 335 e92 zsp sat a little lower than my 2010 335 e92 non zsp. It does list on the website that the zsp and the non zsp come with the same suspension. If thats true then I think the zsp sat a little lower because of it's tires compared to the non zsp.
Either way get ZSP and be done with it.

If you really want to remove the speed limiter I know that Active Autowerks has a small unit which installs in the DME. I installed one on a customers car in LA and he never had warranty issues - To be fair though, the dealer he was going to was extremely mod friendly

MINIMUM :

1) Sports Package (the seats, wheel, suspension, etc, are much nicer)
AND
2) 18" wheels.

If you get (1) AND (2), then your car will come equipped with an oil cooler. But you NEED BOTH, otherwise no oil cooler.

I think your wrong on the suspension part my friend. The suspension is the same for sport or non sport package.
