Can anyone tell me what this error symbol is??
I was at the track this weekend and all was good. But at the end of the day when I started her up, I got a strange error symbol that came up between the speedo and tach. It gonged a couple of time, went away, but left the triangle/exclamation mark up. I couldnt quite find anything in the manual that matched .... :
It looked like a wheel with a piston on top with 8 or so small spokes sticking out. It went away after I shut it down for few minutes but came back the next day for a few runs on the track. I tried to clear it by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes but no go. I have a boost gauge that showed 7-9 PSI so there was boost while I was out on the track. The error went away after a lap or sow. Anyone know what it might be?

I think that is a symbol for a burnt out light bulb.

That look like a light bulb went out symbol? Do you have aftermarket bulb like LED installed on your car?

Agreed: light bulb. I had the same warning on my car. It turned off and on maybe twice before I took it to the dealer. None of my lights were out, but there was something wrong in one of the light sockets that created the code. Easily fixable and covered under your warranty.

Just was down talking to my dealer about bulbs last week. If you have a coupe there is a possibility that the contact strip where the bulbs meet the car for power is corroded or bent to where it is not making contact. That causes intermittant light out symbols. Just a thought.

Thanks for that little golden nugget, but if you would read my original post, I think I said I couldn't find anything in the manual.

When you get the error code for a light bulb out is there anyway to look up what code corresponds to which bulb? I only ask because I have a light bulb out warning, but all of my bulbs work. I want to see what light it thinks is out so I can narrow it down.

And sure enough, the error code is "bulb of exterior lighting system failed". I'm looking to see if the ODBII can provide more detail.

Yeah, no iDrive here as well. I have to go take a look, I think it showed a code on the dash with the warning.

I had that same burned out bulb indicator. It turns out that there was a production problem with some of the driver side tail lamp assemblies. One of the bulb sockets was not coated properly during manufacturing and it tends to corrode causing the failure. Its kind of hard to notice that the bulb is out because there are two bulbs at the top of the taillight and only one is out.
I replaced the bulb twice and it worked each time for a couple of months before the indicator came back on. I finally took it to the dealer and they replaced the socket. No problems since. |

Thanks guys. I have a date with the dealer next week and we'll see what pops up on the diagnostics. To date all lights are good so it'll be fun to see what pops up.

I have the same error symbol on my dash. One morning on my way to work, driving behind a black suv, I could see my car's reflection, and noticed one side of my halos were out... 5 mins later, the other went out. The next day, I noticed my left taillight brake light was on (the bulb above the 3 horizontal tubes that flow accross the tail). I have to take it in to the dealer to see whats wrong.. this happened about a month ago, I miss the halos
the bulbs are completely stock btw, no LED upgrades or anything.. |

I've been running with GP Thunders for fogs and halo's for 5 or 6 months so it makes me wonder about the metal to metal contact in the housing. Odd metal combos are sometimes the cause of these issues causing or accelarating corrosion on contacts and wireharnesses.

This similar thing happened on my blacklines. Is this probably the same issue? And will warranty cover the change??
