When my wife decided she was done driving my old 2001 330i I took it back and started splitting the miles up between them it now has 222K. We also managed to put 16k on the F30 328d but we both tend to drive that. I think I need to just sell my E46 or the F30.

Especially since this thread is 3 years old and the car now has 307,000 miles on it.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

The rear of mine feels a little loose similar to worn RTABS on a E-46 any ideas?

Thanks for confirming how well these cars can do and congrats on your car. My wife's car is at 79k but runs just as good as it did the day we bought it. We're hoping to get at least 200k out of it.

My 21-year old niece got in it last December and asked if it was a new car. Take care of it and how you drive it and you'll easily get 200K out of it. Getting to 300K has really not been that troublesome. Good luck with yours.

Congrats on passing 300k mark! I am starting to think that you could probably make it all the way up to 500k.
P.s. I should have not sold my 328i when it was 125k... So missing it now. |

Don't understand this comment. On the other end of the scale you've got guys who are afraid of racking up the miles on their car - what did you buy it for?
Efthreeoh has gotten every penny's worth out of his car and well beyond that. He's used the car to far beyond it's potential yet still has an engaging German sports sedan to drive every day that costs little (averaged over the life of the car). Too many people (my wife for instance) get to 60,000 miles and are convinced it's time to trade in for new. That's fine if you have the new car itch. Others (like me) have little interest in new BMWs and dread the day I'll have to say goodbye to the car. My E46 with 208,000 is worth next to nothing - I couldn't care less... |
