Start with rear LSD diff...

UUC SSK, or DSSR don't know what that is...

I am going to try to complete everything this weekend. I have all parts at my house now.. complete final drive with LSD installed, clutch, flywheel, UUC short shift kit, and UUC dual shear shift rod. I will try to get these reviews up asap.

But maybe this guy is off the forums or clubs.
Concerning LSD there is a huge difference between a real LSD and e-diff.
he may have been talking about crank, not rear wheel

Same here. I've been running Quaife for a year and I have no idea about the noise of Quaife diffs that was mentioned in the thread several times. No noise at all.

P.S. If someone is interested, there are pics of installation of the diff in my mods' installation thread (link in my signature).

I think the real question at hand is: which one lets you do better drifts?

(haha only kidding guys. I'm on the same boat and not sure what to decide on)

Recommended Maintenance what I've managed to find out

Quaife: Not mandatory, but once every 30K miles or so would be a good practice to change fluid

Wavetrac: Change fluid after first 1K miles (brake in period), after that every 30K miles.

Hi guys,

I've just had Wavetrac installed and I must say it makes a bit of a strange noise occasionally - when I shift into first from neutral or from first into second I can sometimes hear (and feel) a relatively quiet bang coming from the transmission. Doesn't happen every time and doesn't happen in other gears.
The diff itself is working fine (as far as it's function is concerned), but this noise makes it a bit of a nuisance...
Did anyone ever have anything like this?

Well I've heard this noise on a quaife on a fellow forum member's car and it may point to a bad install..

You are right, Quaife has been noise free. Most if not all the noise related issues are of improper installation and incorrect back-lash.

IIRC you got the whole pumpkin with LSD already insalled in it? If that's the case then yes it's possible to DIY. I was hoping it's a DIY on how to install LSD into a pumpkin and how to set up backlash

Both Wavetrac and Quaife recommends professional installation. You can certainly try DIY, but it is a risk you take if you have never set up a diff before.

Haha I'm definitely not touching this...installing coilovers was challenging enough for me

My friend is BMW tech and basically able to install anything including engine swap. He can do the pumpkin re&re which is easy, he knows how setting up diff works just never done it.

Is setting up the LSD 100% necessary? A member here said he just put it right in without adjusting anything and it never makes any noise, is that just fluke??

Back-lash and pattern are always checked when setting up a diff. If you don't, you will most likely get a wine or even a clunk!

You can purchase a complete Quaife or Wavetrac Final Drive, then have a local shop install it. Return the core for a credit. You are done!
