Yellow EML whilst ignition 'on'.

When I turn my ignition on, the various warning symbols flash briefly which is normal. The yellow engine light however remains 'on' until the engine is started, only then does it turn off.

Is this normal?

yes, as the computer is looking for feedback from the motor, yet its not running so a check light will remain on till its running and getting feedback. Normal.
