General Noob questions on HIFI stereo

Hello all,

I just purchased a 08 328i sedan with sport and luxury package. It has Idrive, navigation, and the hifi 10 speakers 2 subs (under seat) stereo.
I have a couple of noob questions.

1) What can I do with USB port? Charge phone, tranfer songs onto car hard drive from Ipod or USB device (memory stick)?
2) Stereo is clear enough and loud enough for me BUT bass is on the low end?? I have to turn the volume up sooo much in order to get some bass but then the music (vocals) is too loud for me. My mazda6 (bose) and toyota 4 runner (stock stereo) both have much more bass?? Are my subs not working or do they really really suck?
3) The cord with the usb and Aux in. Will that play my ipod and charge it?

Thanks

The usb has nothing to do with the Hi Fi

The usb has nothing to do with the Hi Fi
Those come under separate options like 6fl .
The year of the car is important to list as the modules
that support this vary from year to year and the newer radio's
have this function built in .
Also there are threads on these options.
From what I understand on the idrive there are two usb
ports one for downloading music into the hard drive
and one for ipod/usb.
2) Stereo is clear enough and loud enough for me BUT bass is on the low end?? I have to turn the volume up sooo much in order to get some bass but then the music (vocals) is too loud for me. If you bias the fader to the front speakers it will bring out the bass a little more.

Yep the amp and speakers in the Hi Fi are pretty bad especially if you turn it up at all .
Standard fix is a Jl XD600/6 Technic Harness and speaker upgrades for the front door and floor speakers.
Just changing the amp will improve things quite a bit but
the stock speakers are really not designed for aftermarket
amp power and have no real crossovers.

Best study these stickys

Also the aux input sucks pretty bad(makes it thin and trebly) at least it did in my car so I suspect any music coming though it will be degraded. Try some high bit rate music from the cd player
or download it into your hard drive and compare it.
