Thumbs up

Hi guys. Just stumbled upon the site while looking for info on the E92. I'm currently driving around in a 110k mile old 52-plate SEAT Leon Cupra R and I'm feeling like getting something a little more upmarket. Hell, who am I kidding, a LOT more upmarket.

Love the E92 and am currently torn between a 325i, 330i and a 335i. The head says 325i, the heart says 335i and of course the compromise says 330i. Not feeling ready to swallow the diesel pill myself yet. I just can't bring myself to do it. I tried!

Anyway, whatever engine config I end up with, it's got to be an M-Sport, and preferably a Highline. It's not that there's anything wrong with the other specs, it's just that I have my heart on them and like when I bought my current car, if I'd gone for the standard Cupra I'd have always looked at the Cupra R wantingly, so I'm not doing it to myself with a Beemer!

Looking at the specs on Jackanory, I mean Parkers, the 330i looks like it has the 325i beaten on all levels, including fuel efficiency, which surprised me. My current car (theoretically) does 32mpg with 210hp which is approximately what the 325i is quoted at. I'm fairly happy with the power, but in all honesty I feel that if I'm going for an E92 that I really should go for more power. I do love turbos too, which is one of the reasons I'm leaning towards the 330i. There's something raw about them that I just love. Yep, even the lag. It's like you stamp on the gas and it says "are you sure you want to do that? OK, here we go". I love it

On the extras side, whatever I decide on, it needs to have bluetooth (I'd be lost without it now) and preferably with iDrive, however I'm seeing a LOT without iDrive. Can anyone shed any light on that for me? Too expensive? No good? I have a 10" LCD, touch-screen double din DVD player jobby in the Leon and I'm loathed to lose something like that.

Anyway, that's what I'm after. I should probably point out that my heart is really with bikes but I sold my last one (Honda CB1000R) just before my son was born 2 years ago and I won't be getting back on the road on a bike any time soon. I actually run the HondaCB1000R.com forum too, although these days it's in a purely admin/in-the-background form.

I think I'm done rambling for a bit now. It's great to be here, and hopefully in the next few weeks/months I'll be a bonafide owner too.

Cheers!

Hi,

Some great thread and advice on here.

Recently bought myself a 2008 325se with 19"225 (CRACKED as I have found out). Despite the obvious wheels/tyres issue the car is great.

Hi, been reading the post on here for a month or so now, seems very informative.

Just purchased a 07 330d M sport, owned a e46 previously.

Car is great apart from 2 cracked rims on the rear!!!

Welcome mate, and good luck with your search. The 330i is N/A however, only the 335i has turbos. You really shouldn't rule out the 330d & 335d as they are sublime!

Hey guys,

Long time lurker and finally got around to signing up this evening.

I'm from Ireland but spend most of my miles on her majesty's highways travelling around the UK for work. I'm currently the proud and happy owner of a Carbon Black 2006 320D M Sport. The car was originally purchased from Park Lane BMW in London but the owner moved home to Ireland with the car. It currently has 45,000 miles and has full leather, air con, cruise control, bluetooth, rear PDC, lights package a couple of other features. Since I purchased it, I've fitted an Eibach Pro Kit, 19" LM Style wheels, carbon splitter and spoiler, black grills, LED rear lights, Depo P90 V1s and smoked side repeaters. I've just ordered a set of Umnitza P90s with Orion V2 AEs as the standard Depo AEs are pretty rubbish.

Anyways, here are some pics -

Paddy - nice car bud! Looks like some very tasteful mods!

I15 - you are going to love it! have you got the mtech kit on it? I highly recommend you install a JB4 tune and watch the car turn into another animal completely!

Hi Guys, been looking and lurking for a few weeks & thought it time to say hello, it looks like a great site. No Beemer at the moment but I'm looking around for a 12 month old 320d, should be a good time to bag a bargain!

Hi all,

Owned for about 10 weeks now. Someones done the hard work on this m3 335d conversion. I'm just tieing up the lose ends imo..

So far 380mm 8 pot front brake conversion and 380mm 6pot rear, lci rear lights, sorted leaking boost pipe, Lux angel eyes, some carbon fibre, alcantara interior bits, and a number of other little tweaks and touches. more to come you can be assured.

Will do full spec at some stage. where is the best place to start a 'sort of build' thread?? Thanks Nick.

Hello, New owner of an 08' 335xi. Just starting to get the hang of the structure on here and carefully using the search so I don't get the "Use the damn search, that's been asked a million times!" thing most vehicle forums scream at you for.
Looking for newbee's guide for starter performance mods, and places to have it done, etc.

Hello from another newbie.
Currently running an E46 325i Sport. Much as I love her, the tin worm is getting to be to much of an issue, so she's got to go, and I've started looking for an E90.
More power required, so currently got my mind on a manual 330i, simply because they look like better value than the 330D, with similar performance, and I just prefer the way a petrol engine revs. Probably looking at an '08 model, but they seem scarce with a manual box and the 330i motor.

I'll post when I'm a fully fledged member, and any hints on what to look out for are very welcome.
