Question How good is dealership's Detailing Service?

Hey folks,

Need to wax and seal my car for the winter season. Got a "gold" detailing offer from BMW Seattle like one below.

Has anyone done it at the dealership? Is it a good value and worth it for what they offer?

Any good alternatives?

Thanks!

Not worth it IMO but I'm a DIY guy.

Imagine cleaning your car with sand paper, that is how the dealer with detail your car.

Give John a call over at Metropolitan, and tell him TJ referred you. He'll take care of you!

And that is a rip off for $200. That is MAX a $50 quick detail.

Thanks! Will definitely check them out.

What is the reasonable price for exterior detailing for the winter season?

These detailing shops have different packages, so which one should I choose? Considering the car is parked outside (covered) and it sees snow every couple weeks (I ski/snowboard a lot)...

Ask John what he would recommend. I would get your car Opti-coated. It is basically another layer of clear coat, so all you would need to do is wash your car, and the car will remain in the same condition. I don't know the condition of your paint, so it really depends how much correction you want done, but definitely get Opti-Coat!

There is a guy here in Bend that does a kick-ass detail for $175. Our car pretty much looked new, and he did it in the driveway (had a mobile tent setup). He only charges $75 for the one you described, and you could do it yourself in an hour and a half! Throw out the waxing, you are looking at 40 minutes tops (not sure how they are waxing....)

I would also pass; get it done by a detail pro.

definitely DON'T go to derek's auto detail in redmond.

they put a bunch of swirls into my pristine paint. they obviously didn't clean their wash cloths as they went down the car, because the car goes from no swirls up front to very swirly in the back.

avoid them like the plague, and tell everyone you know. they're good for nothing.
