Bad day just got worse.....

Had a REALLY crap day today so when I got home the missus said she'd take me out for dinner.

So, we decide to go to Leicester and when driving down the M1, I get a really sharp bump when going over an expansion joint. A few seconds later.....BONG and the message 'Check your tyre pressures'. Rear tyre is flat as a pancake with what looks like a good 2mm hole in the tyre...what the hell caused that??

At least this car has a spare but I've now gotta shell out a couple of hundred quid tomorrow to replace a practically brand new tyre

Having a flat is very annoying in the first place but it happening to a brand new tyre just sticks the knife in. My 1st 350Z got a puncture then completely chewed up the tyre and it was only 1 week old - argh .

It's very annoying....and yet again I seem to have a car with ultra-rare tyres as there's hardly any listed online so I can get an idea of price before going to my local tyre place tomorrow. They are Yokohama Advan Sports in 255/30/ZR19 size

Will - no, they weren't worn out. I was hoping to do that at the pod on Saturday!

Helen - I did get my meal and we were going to go to the cinema afterwards....but Vicki said I was too miserable so we'd go another night! Hence I am now on here!

Edit...the offending object is somewhere on the M1...I think I'll leave it!

That's not bad............better than nearly £300

Least you don't have to get another tyre so there's no more than 30% wear rate on the same axle (that did piss me off). Still very annoying it's happened to you though.

I know you're car hasn't done many miles Andrew but I wondered if your Merc dealer would match tyre price of someone else, as Porsche did for me. I then knew for sure that the TPM was set up as it should be, just a thought.

Damn shit bollocks...no tyres until next week. Nowhere has one in stock

A local tyre fitter is going to try and patch it up tomorrow but I'm not hopeful...I'm supposed to be going to the Pod on Saturday but I can't very well try and get a 1/4 mile time with my space saver on it

Looks like the missus's Cooper S (now with a Works tuning kit ) is going to have to be the chariot of choice on Saturday!

I think Elite tyres can get them in next day - www.elitedirect.com
I was talking to them earlier and I mentioned your tyre...

TBH I usually use Elite but didn't call them this time as I need a tyre fitted tomorrow. They would need to send it to me so I got no chance to get it done before I go to the Pod - I haven't even got the time to drive to them this week (although they are 150ish miles away)!

Right....I have managed to get it fixed today. However, I know that I drove a good mile or so with the tyre flat and the hole wasn't exactly small so although it now works, I'm not sure how safe it is.

Every tyre place I tried were quoting end of the month (even Elite) as Yokohama are out of stock and thats when they are due into the country.

Then I tried the dealer where I bought the car from - MB Central Birmingham. And guess what...they have two in stock TODAY. And guess another thing....the price. £361 each...sellers market huh?

Not sure whether to bite the bullet and go and one of these or just drive the car on tyres I'm not sure are right??

The regular tyre price is around £250 - £270 depending where I get it from...so MB are charging a £100 premium whilst there are none about!

Have you asked the dealer to price match PN?
