I know little about modding cars but I'm interested in what can be done to get a better sound, for not a lot of money, what are everyone's thoughts?

Cheapest way would be poking a hole in the exhaust. One of my old cars had a one inch diameter hole in the back it sounded like a super car. It was so loud I couldn't bear it. Is that what you want?

I'd recommend the Active Autowerke High Flow Stainless Steel Cat Back Exhaust System if you are looking to upgrade the sound, looks and performance. This is a complete bolt on cat back system that replaces all of the stock piping with high flow stainless steel piping that improves air flow, sound and reduces weight. The great thing about this exhaust is for the price of many muffler only systems, you get a full cat back that is an easy bolt on.
Here are a few shots of the display unit we have on our wall: |

That was a 84' 300ZX I had in college. I did not purposely poke a hole in it, but the exhaust was so old so it burned a hole by itself next to the exhaust tip. It was amazing how loud that little hole could produce. What's wrong with soy sauce and chopsticks on a old beater?

Thinking the secondary cat delete with the stock mufflers (which apparently are designed to and do a very good job of eliminating drone) might be the way to go since I love the stock E92 exhaust sound (coupes have no resonators I think), just stock its too quiet for me. |
