Right now, bar none, out there for dealing with carbon deposits in engines is the BG44K. It's a PolyEtherAmine based fuel cleaner.

where do you buy this? never seen it at the common places (auto zone, o'reillys, walmart, etc.)... do you order yours online or are you fortunate enough that yours is local?

It'll help, not much but it won't hurt. However no gas additive will deal with the real power-robbers on our cars which are the valves and their notorious carbon buildup. Our cars are direct injected so anything added to the fuel system won't touch the valves. If you want some tangible power back you need to sea foam your valves or strip down your intake and get in there with some B12 and the wire brushes.

He has a 325. There are no carbon issues like the N54. The only cleaner to use is Techron or have the injectors cleaned with the professional injector cleaning tools out there.

Ehh.. just run a bottle of Techron or BMW branded (probably Techron) through a be done with it. Like others have said it won't hurt but probably won't notice much of a difference. Especially if you already use top tier gasoline to begin with.

N52 will not have carbon buildup

Just run techron to clean your injectors.

Sorry for the late reply. Yeah, I haven't seen it at any of those stores as of yet. Check out their website though:http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html

I bought mine on Ebay ( they are not cheap in cost per can). I found it more potent and effective than Techron or Seafoam products.

BMW recommends Chevron Techron fuels which help prevent or reduce the amount of carbon build up. But our engines are direct inject, so in time the build up will happen. All we can do is mitigate it.

Once again, only the 335 is direct injection (of the 3 series).

They have many more direct injection models in Europe but will not sell them in north America due to the sulphur in our fuel (carbon build up.)

Just FYI I had to replace the notorious broken head bolt recently and removed my intake manifold to do so.

My Intake valves were literally shiny, not a speck of carbon buildup. N52 330i with 74,xxx miles.

Fuel system cleaner like techron may be good for your injectors and possibly exhuast valves but my intake valves looked brand new.

Exactly, all non-DI engines intake is showered in gasoline which washes all deposits away.

The only thing a 335 owner can do to avoid carbon buildup is move out of North America or Australia to get away from gas containing sulpher.

You can run also run injected meth into the intake, check out the 3 series turbo forum.
