For those with aftermarket hoods
Bought a **********s 392 vented hood in FRP. Finally getting around to installing it. I have a question, I hear some state you should use M3 shocks as to reduce pressure on the hood. However, according to realoem, the e92M/non-M use the same shocks. Further investigation shows one should use the e46M shocks. Which is it? Lastly, direct fit or modifications needed?
PS. I know I can use the stock shocks but do not want to deal with "always being careful." I can imagine a service tech slamming the hood and causing damage. 2007 Stock e92 335i: LEFT ENGINE HOOD HINGE 41617210677 $50.98 RIGHT ENGINE HOOD HINGE 41617210678 $50.98 2006 e92 M3 LEFT ENGINE HOOD HINGE 41617210677 $50.98 RIGHT ENGINE HOOD HINGE 41617210678 $50.98 2005 e46 M3 LEFT ENGINE HOOD HINGE 41617028577 $46.82 RIGHT ENGINE HOOD HINGE 41617028578 $46.82 |

When I bought my Vorsteiner hood, I installed it with M3 shocks as I was also told the same thing.
Don't really know the PN off the top of my head. |

+1 im not sure which year m3 craig got his struts from, but i've opened a few carbon hoods that had the stock struts on and they fly up with force if your not careful.

Thank you for the replies. I still wish someone can point me in the direction of what M3 shocks to get. Don't want to spend a $100 on shocks that won't fit.
Any more ideas? |
