Racing Brake new offerings

Racing Brake (www.racingbrake.com) is now offering a BBK for 335's.

This BBK will be using 360mm rotors like the E90 M3, with a 335i-specific hat, and the 4-piston aluminum calipers with 44 and 40mm staggered size pistons. You can find more about these calipers on their site.

They're also running a group buy on these and other 335i brake upgrades...

http://forums.racingbrake.com/showthread.php?t=931

Anybody want to get in on this with me?

The picture isn't the 335i rotor its an RX7 rotor, its just a sample of what they offer.

I am intrigued. I want to know the pad availability for these.

They say they use the standard FMSI Brake Pad #D647, same as the WRX 2006+.

So they have street pads:

Track pads:

http://www.racingbrake.com/Brake-Pad.../pd647-397.htm

And others:

http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-4-pist...p/pd647-12.htm

http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-4-pist...p/pd647-1g.htm

And in the D647 pad shape I'm sure there are plenty of other pads available too. I'd probably get the XT960 pads and see how they work and go from there.

I've been very happy with the track performance out of Performance Friction 918 pads. My only "problem" with them is that they do not come with retaining clips which results in HORRIFIC clunking, clattering and knocking sounds during normal street driving.

I wonder if this BBK will exhibit similar issues?

EDIT: I'd be interested in pricing for option 3 on their groupbuy deal...

I'd just swap in your full track pads (XT960 or 970, or HP+ or PFC 06's or whatever) with your no-dust street pads and not have that problem. With these calipers the pads come out the top so it takes longer to jack up the car and remove the wheel than it takes to change the pads.

They have 2-piece rotors for the rear, I'm sure you could get some on the group buy. Rear BBK's are mostly just for looks IMO; very little performance advantage. The 335's rear brakes are already pretty large.

So there is an open group buy on the RB site, but no takers. I guess it is too late in the season now for track use. Anybody going to take the plunge?

The BBK is interesting since it uses e9X M3 rotors.

Are people buying them at those prices?

Curious to know since it seems like a profitable endeavor if people are indeed paying that price.
