Bluetooth Question

I tried a search but didn't find what I was looking for. If it's out there and I just missed it, then sorry for the repost.

I made a call on the way to work this morning using bluetooth. When the machine picked up on the other end, I had the options of dialing 1 for one voicemail box, and 2 for another, then it just waited for me to select. I had to dig my phone out of pocket and manually press 2 to leave the message I wanted in the appropriate box.

Is there a way to dial options while on a bluetooth call the way you would with a touchtone phone?

Yes. If you select the phone in your onboard system (this is for non-iDrive) in the audio unit, the soft keys become numbers.

Thanks Zep, but I've got iDrive, although I'm sure it's something similar. I'll check the manual when I get home, but thought I'd poll the knowledge base that is e90post.com since I don't have my manual here.

The keypad is visible along the bottom of the Onbord Monitor. You just have to use the iDrive controller to navigate to that area. If your car is much older, the keypad is accessible via a popup once the call has commenced. Simply push the controller in when you are on the call screen and select the keypad option.

depending on the phone (and you can experiment)
  • You can use the button on the MFL to answer the 2nd call but you will lose the first call
  • You can answer the call on your mobile but you will lose the first call
  • You can answer the call on your mobile and you will be able to return to the first call after (in some cases it will look like you lost it but it will ring back)
