Ok, I search "album artwork" and nothing came up. I don't have the 6FL iPod yet, my car goes into prod in a couple weeks.

Does the 6FL iPod integration enable the album artwork to show up on the iDrive screen for those that have it? Just curious.

If it is able to function as a mass storage or MP3 device with a USB connection it should work. Have you ever connected it to your computer with a USB cable? If so, it should work with 6FL.

Yeah it works as a mass storage device when I connect it to my computer through the USB cable, but when I tried connecting it to the 6FL port and navigate to the USB option with the iDrive nothing happens. I was just wondering if there were some steps I was missing to get this working with the car like if it requires a particular file system, folder structure, or something else. Thanks for the reply.

hey all, i guess this is directed at Ledzep.

i got my new car on friday and have the 6fl option. everything is working great, no dropouts, except one thing.

when i go to the playlist category, all my lists dont come up. i arrange all my albums into playlists, and i am getting less than half come up

i am on a mac, but everything else is working well, so i dont think that it the problem.

any suggestions?

Pangearox - how many playlists do you have? There might be a limit on the number that will be displayed. I have about 20 playlists and they all list okay, but if you have a huge number of them maybe that's the problem.

it lists about 60 of them, but the other bunch dont come up...it only makes it to the I's.

the thing is if i go into the songs section, everything comes up...

any ideas?

OK, I did a search through all the pages of this thread as well as other threads, using the terms USB and DIY, and didn't find it.

Has anybody figured out a way to DIY a USB port that would give the same functionality as the 6FL option? I neglected to order the 6FL option, and was wondering if it can be done as a DIY.

I don't know if there is a limitation on the number of playlists that can be displayed, but that is what it seems like.

Nope. Even the dealers can't retrofit it, so I would guess that it would be impossible or ridiculously difficult to try.

ok, I just thought maybe somebody who had the option had done some reverse engineering to see what it would take...maybe we should let the Japanese try...

Every now again my car switches from Audio Aux (i.e. iPod) to Radio for no apparent reason. Anyone else getting this or know how to resolve it?

During driving or when parked? My '06 used to switch from Sat to radio all the time after I shut the car off. It was annoying, but of course it never "did that" when the dealer had it.

My E92 335 does the same thing (but not when it's operating, only when radio readiness is switched on after being off). I can't come up with any set of conditions that will cause it, it just seems to be random.

This is exactly what I experienced in my '06. I would be listening to Sirius, and then after shutting off the car and getting back in, it would go to FM radio (yuk). I asked the dealer twice to look into it or to search for a bulletin about it, but to no avail.

Of course, it would never do it for them.

Mine does it all the time - while I'm driving and the iPod is playing. Could it be somekind of sleep mode problem on the ipod if no user input is receieved after X minutes?

That should only kick in if nothing is playing... however with mine, when the playlist ends it just loops back to the beginning and starts it again.

I did a little search and there have been no service bulletins or anything pertaining to this issue so it must just be too new. I don't think a dealer could do anything with it until they can replicate the problem... which will probably never happen since it's so random. I'll keep my eye out though

I just found a little something... #2 looks like it may be your problem..

During operation, the Entertainment source spontaneously switches from audio device (iPod, MP3 player) to FM radio:

Select the audio device as the Entertainment source manually. Disconnect/reconnect the device concerned if necessary

my guess is that the problem is with the device and not the car... does it only happen when you turn the car on and it's already on ipod?

I've got my new 118d with the 6FL fitted and I thought I'd let you and anyone else know the solution I used for scanning through the LOOOOOOOOooooooong list of artists on my iPod.

I've gone into iTunes and changed the "genre" field for each track to the index letter for the artist. i.e. all the songs for The Beatles now appear under the Genre of "B".

Now when I need to zip through the artists, I instead go to the Genre option on the Stereo, select All, then scroll through the the letter of the Artist I'm looking for, select that letter and all the relevent artists are displayed.

It works a treat.

The obvious downside is I can't select songs by the Genre of "pop" anymore, but I never used Genres previously anyway!

Hope someone finds that useful.
