Quiet aftermarket exhaust? Do I need Aftermarket exhaust?

I have catless downpipes and high flo-cats with factory stock exhaust........are there real gains in hp/tq if I replace the factory exhaust??? I would also want soemthing quite.......like factory quite......I do not care for exhaust note......just performance. I've read the standard Borla system is the quitest? Can anyone confirm or let me know what they use that is real quite?

I have the follwoing mods:

Catless Down Pipes
Hi-Flo secondary Cats
Forge Divertors
Helix IC

I was looking for the most quiet exhaust for a long time. Went with Milltek. It is really quiet for a completely catless system. However, I fitment issues - front resonators sometimes touch each other and I ger some vibrations @ ~1500-1600 rpm. As far as I know others didn't have such problem.

Record the sound!I want to hear it!

I've been looking forever trying to find something much like our oem stock mufflers but smaller so I can re-pipe for quad setup. If I could re-use my stock that would be the best!

I've heard the bmw performance and they are loud. I actually wanted the stock sound levels myself as well. After i started spending money in the exhaust system, i realized that every car seems different. this was my experience.

Started out with stock. (I'm auto)
replaced downpipes with catless and catback with CP-E catback. LOUD!!
Replaced catless DP with CP-E catted dp's. Still LOUD!!!
Had midpipes resonated... STILL LOUD!!!
Replaced axle backs with Bastuck dual's. Decent!

no major drone but throaty. Its very civil when cruising and when you get on it, sounds great. On cold starts though, sounds loud for about 1 minute and then rumbles.

I guess everyone has different opinion in loud. My previous car was a Subaru STI with a APS 3" turboback so my definition of loud is LOUD.

But I am looking for a nice quiet exhaust now.

Get a BMW performance exhaust, deletes your resonator for a X-pipe, and comes with more high flow mufflers.

Hmm I have catless dp and CPe exhaust=loud and raspy. Installed some resonators in the midpipes and it's perfect. It's not as loud and rasp is totally gone. Again everyone has their own degree of what is considered loud

My CPE was loud as hell after I went with the AR DPs, but adding resonators help calm the earth shattering noise....Now its nice and sporty and deep

Autobahn Exotic exhaust is worth checking out as well. It's a fairly quiet exotic sound but growls when WOT.

I don't think there is such a thing when it comes to exhausts Very minimal gains for a hefty price.

I say you don't, unless you can't live with out that additional 5-10 hp/tq

Just do "golf" mod if you haven't done it.

My current set-up: AR Cat-less DPs + OEM exhaust + "golf" mod + Cyba single layer quad chrome tips. the sound of my exhaust:
- Tamed
- Car sounds euro exotic & classy
- Almost zero drone
- Almost non intrusive inside of the car so you can still talk on blue-tooth hands free
- Can be PRO or CON, wife is NOT whining that sound is obnoxious and you wake up neighborhood during cold-start.

Got more compliments running this set-up vs when I had AE quad DP back system with HFC.
